I will never get the "hype" around that place. It was just a bunch of straights and chicanes and a twisty bit at the end. Not exactly the greatest test for drivers.

The "new" one is not Spa or Suzuka but it produces good racing.

I think it's because it was different, and they changed it into something of which we already had several.

Monza is great for high speed, but we don't need 20 races of it. Monaco is great, you can't pass but every mistake will cost you, but we don't need 20 street circuits. Even 2 races in Monaco would be too much. A lot of the other tracks are just something inbetween, different lay-out but same concept.
Old Hockenheim stood out, you take the first turn and from then on it was full throttle (after a while with chicanes) into the forrests until you returned to the stadium. Would the engine survive? Nobody knew. Usually this race was planned just before the Hungaroring, so the contrast couldn't be bigger. New Hockenheim has had its good moments too, but it is no longer special. No longer unique.

Couldn’t have said it better.

Red Bull drivers now basically had no proper time on Friday. Might shake things up

That move by Max was really dodgy.

So, despite all the rookies, it's the full time drivers crashing? :D

talking about old school tracks diversity I reckon each country had their own set, UK had a fast technical track and one that is more technical given their elevation changes. France was the gold standart for challenges, with country roads so dangerous and fast that the purpose built tracks after it were considered too bland

today are big straights suited to DRS, followed by tight corners and then a technical sector just to give track limits penalties

The whole incident reeks of entitlement really. Something you often see on the road when some egocentric driver feels wronged, gets angry, and starts feeling entitled to treating everyone else like stupid roadblocks in his way, taking liberties with the rules and/or with basic decency/courtesy towards fellow drivers stuck in the same shitty situation as them.
It's pathetic, and even moreso when it's a rich/powerful guy doing it, which is sort of the case here since this asshole already has the championship, it ain't killing him to stay in line and lose one practice lap over the week-end.

Rant over. Eat the rich, beat up the assholes to death, slap the arrogant back to earth, etc etc this goes deeper than F1 guys, years of internalized unfairness and trauma, goodbye thanks

And it was after he had a moan about one of the Williams drivers cutting in line in the restart before.

Amen

The Ferrari Merc battle will be enjoyable this weekend. Ferrari look for comfortably faster but the Sainz situation shows how easily it can be thrown on its head.

Gunning for an Oscar podium as well but think it'll require misfortune for others.

It's pretty sad when just leaving the pitlane in a practice session can't be done without it being a joke.
