An ensuing fight for position at the start between Hamilton and Sainz caused minor air for the Mercedes driver. Verstappen won a rather uneventful race.

As always, terrible track to end the season with. Not something to look forward to. Brazil for example would have been so much better.

Rooting for Norris to take 4th place. 4 drivers are separated by 12 points, this battle will be the most interesting thing to follow.

Couldn't care less, but at least there's F2 to provide (potential) action this weekend. We still haven't seen a single flipperz this year, so last chance now. :whistling:

Early SC/start crash flipperz or this race will be a snooze....

But then, there was that year it randomly rained.......in the desert of all places?

Oh well, see you in 2024 when Max will win 100% of the races!

FP1 will look pretty different.

Quote:
Red Bull
Jake Dennis
Isack Hadjar

Ferrari
Robert Shwartzman

Mercedes
Frederik Vesti

McLaren
Pato O'Ward

Alpine
Jack Doohan

Aston Martin
Felipe Drugovich

Alfa Romeo
Theo Pourchaire

Haas
Ollie Bearman

Williams
Zak O'Sullivan

Only AT will keep the same line-up for the whole weekend, ironically.

wasn't a GP2 test when it rained so hard that the track flooded?

That was before FP3 one year a long time ago.

PT buddy of mine who lives there said it rained really heavily there last week.

It's the first time I recall team replacing its both drivers in FP1.

I recall Lotus-Caterham planning to do it but Kovalainen insisted that it should not happen so in the end they had only one substitute driver there.

I suspect it was in 2011, they had three different FP1 drivers (Chandhok, Valsecchi and Razia) back then, although Chandhok also competed in one GP.

I hope Verstappen takes a new powerunit, and tries to win from last place. Would be the perfect way to finish of this season. I bet he can do it

Mental to think this is the 15th year they've had a race. Still seems like it's new to the calendar

I still regard Bahrain as "one of the new additions". :p
But if Liberty believes that "over time people will grow to like Yas Marina", then they're mistaken. Just like Paul Ricard sucks even though it has 60 year history.

Oh, you were still completing the list, I didn't realize that. I saw the first part of this line and tought "2002, yeah, that one went down to the wire."

Bahrain was introduced 19 years ago. It's now an solidly established classic, and even more so with all the historical battles/victories/accidents that occurred there.

For comparison, I started watching F1 seriously in 1996. 19 years before that was 1979. The re-furbished Spa track, was as new an addition to the calendar when I started watching, than Bahrain is to new viewers this year. Abu Dhabi with 14 years would be the equivalent to the shortened Nürburgring track.

....Sorry, you asked for none of this. You're welcome.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if some older fans still regard Barcelona, Hungaroring and Suzuka as "new" tracks.
