I still can't get used to a new Silverstone layout, like, Copse as a Turn 1 is forever engraved in the brain.

Thank fucking god its over after this one.
Not for the Max dominance but the 22 race schedule is just too much. I dont even look forward to a race anymore. With 16-17 races you almost always had at least 2 weeks in between. It was something to look forward to. Now its race after race after race after race.

And because we're addicted to F1, we can't just decide not to watch. Who wants to miss the race of the century? Yes, even Abu Dhabi "might", just might turn out to be fantastic if you're skipping it. ;)

This too. Next year will have 24 races, it´s just not special anymore.

if 16 of those races were in Europe or on classic tracks I wouldn't mind

but again, I'm paying to watch the races now so there's also the monetary issue

It doesnt even have to be all in Europe for me. For a world championship it makes sense to touch down on most continents. Just not 3 in the USA or mostly in overly questionable regimes.

I pay for it too but still I dont want it to be too much. I want it to remain special and something to look forward to. Not almost a chore because you paid for it and dont want to miss a potential classic.

It's become increasingly more difficult to have my girlfriend to watch the race with me, something she was excited for at the start of the season.

Bahrain was introduced 19 years ago. It's now an solidly established classic, and even more so with all the historical battles/victories/accidents that occurred there.

For comparison, I started watching F1 seriously in 1996. 19 years before that was 1979.

Seems the long season has taken its toll on you as well :D You mean 1977.

What about Hockenheim. People that weren't even born when it was last used wish the old track was still around

I will never get the "hype" around that place. It was just a bunch of straights and chicanes and a twisty bit at the end. Not exactly the greatest test for drivers.

The "new" one is not Spa or Suzuka but it produces good racing.

I think it's because it was different, and they changed it into something of which we already had several.

Monza is great for high speed, but we don't need 20 races of it. Monaco is great, you can't pass but every mistake will cost you, but we don't need 20 street circuits. Even 2 races in Monaco would be too much. A lot of the other tracks are just something inbetween, different lay-out but same concept.
Old Hockenheim stood out, you take the first turn and from then on it was full throttle (after a while with chicanes) into the forrests until you returned to the stadium. Would the engine survive? Nobody knew. Usually this race was planned just before the Hungaroring, so the contrast couldn't be bigger. New Hockenheim has had its good moments too, but it is no longer special. No longer unique.

100% this. The blasts into the forest, the struggling through the stadium section. Now it's just another Tilkedrome.

Much of the issue was with the cars rather than the track any way.

Yeah, old Hockenheimring was one-of-a-kind track, like a relic from the 60s but in a good way. A 24-race calendar wouldn't be so tiring if every single track felt unique, but currently there are so many near-clones, either by layout or by atmosphere. That's why I'd welcome Bahrain outer layout to be used at least every other year. Or introducing true oval race for F1, that would feel special. On the other hand, if there were 10 Suzuka-clones or 10 Spa-clones, even that would become boring.
