I believe the race will get very interesting once drivers start struggling for grip on a cold and worn tarmac

I use to say that Baku is the Dega of F1 but this one has a good potential to become that doubled down

The 'show' should be on track, not off it. F1 and plenty of supports. Anything off-track is just a distraction.

So people who will watch it for the racing, fear that that aspect will be shit. It should be on top priority, in Vegas it won´t be. So who can get excited for that?

This circuit is wide as hell, 6km long and has 4 overtaking opportunities, what do you mean racing is the 7th thing on the priority list? It's arguably got the most overtaking opportunities on a race track in on street circuit we've ever raced on.

And F1 has always been about the money, they've had no problem excepting oil or blood stained money in the past, doesn't matter if its the US, Middle East or Australasia so why is Vegas any different?

Because boooo to any change in F1 it seems

Yeah, I'm all hyped up for a last corner pass for the win. At least, that last corner is going to be fun.

On the video game it looks surreal, like a fictional track, being at night and with all those landmarks close by. Good job making it a reality.

Now, after the couple aerial shots are done, once the racing gets going, as spectators we tunnel-vision between two barriers and fences and this becomes another street track. At Singapore you don't see much of the skyline or surroundings given how much the track is flood-lit. Perhaps it could be different here with a city already very illuminated.

In the end, what will make it or break it, is how the flow and the racing will feel like. Saudi Arabia's track is more of a success than Miami, specifically thanks to the quality/thrill of the bit between the walls. So I can understand people being hesitant until they see that.

Think there's definitely a risk the coverage will be like the first couple of years of Abi Dhabi with lots of pointless scenery shots rather than focussing on the racing

F1 clearly felt there was no point doing a race around Vegas without being able to lean into the neon lights of the city's famous skyscape. In November the sun sets before 6 p.m. in Vegas, but it is understood one reason the times shifted back so far (10pm PT) was to minimise disruption and to quieten concern among locals. An obvious drawback of the times from a U.S. perspective mean anyone on the east coast will be watching the race early in the morning (1am ET) - Source

Or because ESPN told F1 to fuck off regarding pre-empting their late college football matches.

A big let down of this event is there's no support races. It would have been a great chance for a showcase under the lights. Perhaps next year they'll work that one out.

Yea, it's a bit of a downer, you'd think they could get F2/F3 there plus any local series. How badass would it be if they had an IMSA Enduro race a bit like they do at Long Beach. Wrong time of year though I guess

Here is an idea that may or may not be suicidal given the layout: a celebrity race

The interviewed sound like a bunch of spoiled crybabies to be honest. There is no distinction made between the one-off construction work done to prepare the first venue, and the yearly recurring works that will accompany each edition.

They're even defending the notoriously eye-gouging misery-inducing LV casinos/hotels as the "good guy" here, just because it's local and familiar against the foreign menace that is... what, Liberty? another entertainment corporation? I can understand people being inconvenienced by any event in a major city, but here it sounds like some narcissistic tribal reactionary bullshit to be honest, from people who think way too highly of their city (and trust me, living in Paris, I know this sort of reaction all too well).
