Controversial opinion - feel free to lose your shit at me, but I feel a half time or intermission in a race wouldn't be the worst idea, as long as it's a rolling restart when it returns and cars can't be worked on in the break.

Soccer, Basketball, Football, Cricket all those sports have periods, half times, breaks or intermissions, why not motorsport? One day we just said we'll go for 305km and that will do and no-one has bothered questioning it.

Chase format can fuck off though

And after half time, they play in the other direction...
Who here wants to see F1 racing down Eau Rouge?

Not a great race, but best race of the season so far. At least there was some fighting and overtaking, and different strategies, even if it was a one-stop race. Pass for the win with less than 10 to go.

Sorry if this has been posted before.... but what in the fuck. This looks to be sanctioned by F1 as well. It was apparently preformed before the race

So, in about 3 races time, Verstappen will equal Senna in wins. In 4 races he will surpass him. Next up Alain Prost which he can still technically surpass this year as well. Even passing Vettel is not impossible but he needs to win 16 of the 18 remaining races for that to happen.

Passing Schumacher will take at least 2 more seasons and passing Hamilton at least 3. Assuming they wont bump up the calendar for 24 and 25 to 30+ races.

I wonder at which race Verstappen and Perez will crash into each other, putting them both out of the race, and destroying the little respect they still have for each other.

I cant see Perez having the actual balls to fight Verstappen too hard.

In the end RBR is the only realistic team that can give him wins so why risk that seat? All he can hope for is for Verstappen to have a few off days or be out for a few races.

Bring back the good old days of different compounds on each corner. Teams can still have their current allocations per weekend, but they can do whatever they like with them!

IndyCar used a similar method on their oval races back in 70's but I guess was more to diversify the points share rather than make races exciting

I guess Miami wants to go under the lights so is harder for the guests to be seen doing cocaine, Miami style

I see Perez with the willingness to fight, but I don't think he has the skills for that.

I don't blame them, it's the only way to get excited about a shit race like yesterday's.

competition cautions are fucking terrible

if you think there's no strategy now? it would be 1000 times worse in F1. Go watch any NASCAR road course race from the last 6 years, they were AWFUL - partly because everyone was stuck doing the same thing with the scheduled cautions. And that's before factoring in the gutless high aero/low power cars + certain tracks getting repaved/reconfigured (and thus some of them having no tire deg..... Watkins Glen) making it even worse.

Thankfully they got rid of that shit on the road courses, now only if they would do it on the ovals............

I suppose they order you to throw away any snacks you have in your backpack before entering the premises

I had the same during Berlin E-Prix but at least good sandwich there was for 10 Euro  (1: still expensive, 2: there was backpack control but not that detailed)

Actually it was more like one they people just said let's get from city A to B, whoever does it first wins. And the sleep time, eating time, bathroom time were all part of the race.

But I can't think of how would this make F1 any better.

The other sports are more flexible to stoppages, in a motor race it can literally change the outcome of a race

Other sports are also very physical. I don't know what's the maximum capacity of an F1 driver, but I think they could drive up to 4 or 5 hours provided their drinking system is working. For sports like Ice Hockey, they have to rest every ~2 minutes and half times are necessary lest they would be too tired to stand.

You could argue that in the Free-to-Air era it would have been handy if racing were stopped every time a TV channel went to a commercial break. ;)

Indy 500: Sure you can bring a cooler. Don't forget your beer!
