this is the kind of stuff where team principals put people to see just to catch championship rivals to force penalties

even though todays is mainly done by sensor

Ridiculous that it took so long to penalise him. If they had applied it during the race, Alonso may have had a chance to extend the gap to Russell further. Whether he would have had the pace is irrelevant; he should have been given the opportunity.

The FIA being inconsistent with penalties again, surely not

The penalty has been reversed! AMR won the appeal.

Edit: Apparently they showed footage of similar situations where no penalty was given and argued that the jacks touching the car doesn't mean working on them.

How long are the FIA going to be allowed to act like an incompetent ferrari team and just make mistake after mistake. Get the same stewarts for every race and simplify the rules and penalty system. So sick of the results changing time and time again in the hours after a race

Jackie and Paul wouldn't do any better, trust me.

A bad race

A bad season

Potential for it to be one of the worst seasons in F1 history, with little midfield interest to distract us from the top team dominating
Gonna be right up there with 2004 unless things change pretty rapidly. :(

At least we have Drive to survive, oh wait. It's not for the real fans.
Shitty season, and i cant see anything changing, even a wet race. Just a Redbull double retirement could make it a bit more interesing, apart from that, it's gonna be 2004 all over again

Drive to Survive better have been at Mclaren this weekend or they'll have literally nothing to add spicy drama to...

On this day and age, creating controversy and engagement on social media is key to the revenue of any entertainment company.

I am not saying this is done on purpose, not at all.

But just be sure that there is absolutely zero incentive for F1 to be more consistent with their rule application, because that would mean people forget about F1 as soon as they hit the bed on Sunday night until the next race, instead of raging on Twitter and Reddit about it for days.

“There was no clear agreement, as was suggested to the Stewards previously, that could be relied upon to determine that parties had agreed that a jack touching a car would amount to working on the car… In the circumstances, we considered that our original decision to impose a penalty on Car 14 needed to be reversed and we did so accordingly.”

So just to be clear, was the reversal of the penalty because the Stewards got told bum info that they didn't check on properly?

"Hey, someone told us that it was agreed that the jack touching the car meant that it was being worked on"......"Who told you this"?......ahhhhhhh......"Someone"......."Who"?........"Twitter"

No wonder the penalty was rescinded. Stewards acted based on some "unofficial agreement" between the teams (that touching the car classifies as "working" on the car 8O ) when in reality there was no agreement to begin with? Moreover why would FIA officials even respect any informal agreements between the teams when it comes to imposing penalties?

It seems like they're cracking down on this sort of thing (commentators mentioned this when lots of F2 and F3 teams got penalties for grid procedure infringements in Bahrain). As long as the teams have been warned in advance that they're cracking down, I don't have a problem with it - I mean, what's the point in painting a grid box if you can just choose your own? This stuff is black and white and I think it's actually better if common sense doesn't come into it. Just follow the rules.

My only issue is with the time it takes to decide on these penalties.

Ignore this post then, just the FIA being an absolute clown show as usual

In hindsight, good that they did not decide on a penalty during the race. It could have changed the outcome and make it more difficult to undo it.

As the penalty document noted, the alleged infringement was raised to the stewards on the last lap of the race, suggesting that it had been brought to the attention of race control by someone else.

Which begs the question as to whether it was Wolff, Schumacher or another member of the Mercedes garage who tipped them off.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

What makes this season even worse for me is that it feels like most of the teams are doing a bad job.

Apart from Red Bull and Aston Martin it feels like every team is either stuck or downgrading.

Lol, no! It would take another 4 years of this to reach the levels of what Hamilton and Mercedes were doing.

another thing worth mentioning was the reason for why officials called SC for an incident that wasn't a big concern

they claimed that they "couldn't see where the car was stopped". Utter bollocks I might say
