Definitely did not see Cadillac getting involved in F1!!! It's quite interesting how GM is pushing the brand a lot now in motorsports

Although sounds like it's a case of using Honda power initially. I suppose that's the smart thing to do, instead of trying to develop an engine in a short time frame and doing a recent Honda/McLaren

Replace the Andretti name with Penske and watch F1 drool. Instead, watch F1 perform mental gymnastics in order to reject it whilst still harping on about how important America is. They absolutely have it out for Andretti for some reason.

I hope that the next Concorde agreement will have a $200M penalty for other teams if there are less than 13 teams. That should make other teams beg new entries.

But those greedy bastards, they don't understand what's best for the show. I would never watch a new series that has less than 26 cars on the grid. Even F2 is 2 teams shy of what it was before 2016. And the new F1 Academy series for women consists of only 15 cars. I mean, really? Who enjoys that? :slaphead:

What's your point, new teams are usually not competitive in their first race and therefore are bad for the sport? I guess we should just hold on tight to existing teams which you just weren't around to witness their own early struggles, and wait for them to die out one by one. Good plan.

Can you, for once in your life, post something positive?

Instead of looking it at it like that, you (and the current teams) need to look at it like this - Say there is 3 new teams in 2023

- That's 6 new cars on the grid for drivers to support. 6 new drivers get a shot in the top flight as opposed to being simulator monkeys who get to drive a show car once every 3 months
- 200-300+ more people employed in the sport. Engineers, mechanics, accountants, marketers, graphic designers and 50 other professions with new employment.
- $500m+ in F1's pockets for their entry fees (less likely to sell races that don't make money, although being the FIA, I'm being a bit ridiculous they'll sell their own children to Saudi Arabia)
- Additional TV money and viewership from new regions, which otherwise wouldn't have a driver on the grid, example - Drugovich certainly wouldn't be a test driver if there was more seats available. So there's a Brazilian on the grid and a few million more viewers who otherwise might not have been watching. How about Daruvala? There's an Indian driver on the grid too, who cares if he's a shit pay driver it's still eyes on screens.
- More pay drivers bring more new sponsors into the sport.

Who gives a shit if they're a few seconds off to start. Same two teams are winning every race anyway. And hopefully, new management and lessons learnt will see them better looked after than what HRT, Caterham, Marussia etc. were looked after.

You can pretty much guarantee that they will be more prepared than HRT, Caterham and Virgin. Any new team (from F2 etc and not a manufacture) will most likely be set up like Haas as a quasi B team, with heavy strategic partnerships with a current manufacture (Andretti seems to be an exception) But even if they are crap, still more possibilities for lolz with overtaking and general mishaps.

Remember BAR scored ZERO points in their first year and then a couple of pretty ordinary ones after that. The team then went on to become Honda, Brawn and the all dominating Mercedes. From little things big things grow.

BAR wasn't a new team though, that was Tyrrell before 1999.

Toyota I think was the last completely new team that was somewhat successfull (poles, podiums, no wins)

IIRC, the 2010 new teams were all screwed over to some extent by the FIA not bringing in rules that were promised during their setup phase. It's reasonable to assume that if this doesn't happen, any new teams this time would start off in better shape.
