so he lives in America and is quite aware that there's an open wheel racing series there that uses harder tires without warmers and drivers get along pretty well with that right

but again those disgraceful blankets refuse to go away

This point is as old as the attempts to get rid of tyre warmers, and I have no idea why it isn't pointed out to the drivers.

So Piastri's spin was the ONLY one for the whole test? I'm not sure what to make of that.

Either these cars are more forgiving and easier to recover, they are the best drivers in the world or no one was pushing to the limits due to limited running and cost cap. I think the latter.

drivers were doing below racing pace at times and yet going over track limits at almost every lap

Drugovich will stand in for Stroll when needed.

A good call. As much as I'd like to see Seb have a chance, I think Felipe deserves more of a shot

If Drugovich races we will have 6 of the last 7 F2/GP2 Champions racing. 2022,21,19,18,17,16 as well as the 2006 and 2009 champs.

And if he does, he'll be the 9th straight champion to have raced in F1. The last one was Fabio Leimer in 2013, although he did 1 FP1 session in 2015.

It is a funny one. Because I am the first guy saying that there aren't enough seats available, yet over half the grid is filled by F2/GP2 drivers from just the last 7 years.

Spain is definitely ditching the final chicane, at last.

Won't help (except for qualifying) (unless it's wet)

Hopefully other series will follow, I don't think that chicane has been anything other than an inconvenience.

Wonderful. A long overdue change. It's not like the corner was ever more dangerous than Blanchimont, 130R, Parabolica, Copse, Sochi's Turn 3 or any corner at Jeddah.

Oddly enough, it seems that the only thing needed for homologation was to install new TecPro barriers. But this article from 2007 says that Barcelona had already TecPro installed when the new chicane was introduced. So I don't know why it took them 16 years to realize that the chicane wasn't needed in the first place.

So here are my 2023 bold predictions

- at least one of the AT drivers will be kicked out before the end of the season
- a driver a good amount of people care about will retire at the end of 2023.
- Lance Stroll will return too soon, thinking he is god, and permanently damages his wrist(s)
- Another team will change hands
- Another team will exceed the budget cap but much much more significant than RBR did.

I can see Tsunoda getting the boot, especially if AT changes hands.

De Vries isnt safe either. If Monza turns out to be a fluke he'll be out there just as fast as he got that seat.

Spain is only dangerous if you get hit by a gust of wind that somehow gets you zapped from the hybrid systems

I don't think it was ever about safety was it? People were just sick of the downforce wash generated by the final corner not letting the cars follow close enough on the straight to make a pass.

As ever, they changed the track instead of changing the cars.

These cars will probably do better through there, but it's still a shit track.
