so they'll replicate the fake marina trying to be the Monaco of the desert. At least they got cassinos and crooks to level it out

Why build F1 track in the flat desert when there are so many states with beautiful landscapes and lush greenery? Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, North Carolina to mention a few. Obviously you don't want to ruin national parks with a nearby tilkedrome, but even when built far away, in the helicopter shots you would see the backdrop at least. And there would be trees surrounding the track, not just wasteland straight from Fallout.

or do something like Bridgehampton, which was closed exactly because rich neighbours got fed up with the noise

TBF that was during the Indycar weekend where they decided policing track limits at that corner was beyond them....

OR they wanted more speed carried through that corner to negate some of the deficit in laptimes between them and F1, who knows really

Williams took a show car to Austin with a Memorial Day weekend livery/USA Olympic Team stars and stripes livery given they're now owned by an american investiment firm

Too much color to really race with, with the weight of the car on the limit. It looks interesting and cool for an one off livery.

It's kinda sad they couldn't run that in the race, whether for weight saving reasons or paint scheme regulations or whatever. That paint scheme being on track is probably better for Williams and F1 than the weight savings allowing them to finish 14th rather than 16th.

Why are all sessions this late?

The whole year they start at sunset, or under floodlights, to accomodate the fucking US of A, and when we race there they still make it too late for European viewers?

Fuck America sometimes, really

perhaps later in the day temperatures are more cool and able to make the cars go faster

and also to make into a better slot for the west coast

Qualifying is for most European viewers from midnight to 1 am. Do they expect anyone to stay up / stay home for that?

FP2 at 1:00-2:30 for Finland. :tired:
Whatever, I wasn't planning to watch it anyway. For Suzuka I was happy to disturb my sleep.

Was that session broadcast? At least on raw satellite feed?

Gio bins it in the first 7 minutes. Mick sighs in relief.

I'm sure I'm missing some loophole, but how does Giovinazzi classify as a "young driver" for FP1 running?
Or are Haas just running him as a "reserve driver"? And if so, aren't they still obliged to run a "young driver" in at least 2 FP1s?

meanwhile Palou is living the dream

Must’ve been a Masters Endurance Legends practice session. Probably was broadcasted for stuff like the videowalls etc, but nowhere outside of that. We’ll see if a video pops up

HAAS lost their team member Harvey Cook yesterday, his name will be on the cars this weekend as tribute.
