I guess it helped due to COVID last year that the final race was so late in the season it was practically Christmas Eve or something.... :whistling:

In 2001 Schumacher clinched championship in Hungary, so he took 336 days to win the 5th title

but we can thank the world cup this year for the championship to end before december

When I was a kid I wished there were still races around my birthday (early November). It always got close but never quite.

Now I want to go back in time and smack that little ignorant brat in the face. Winter time is way too late to watch F1, we need a break.

there's also the other way round, Niki Lauda holds the longest time between 2 titles that is 2577 days (1977 US GP to 1984 Portuguese GP)

again, the only driver able to break this record today is Fernando Alonso (or Hamilton if he doesn't win the championship again until late 2028)

Yeah the delta between the worn and new inters was pretty extreme. Looking at the footage, I noticed Alonso actually got the job done coming out of the last chicane. However, Vettel somehow still managed to find better traction on those old inters and out drag him to the line, incredible.

Button said on our commentary that Alonso should be pitting for inters about 3 laps before he did, and when he finally did come in, he said "Probably a lap later than I would've done it, but a good shout all the same"

So yeah, if Button had been in that car, another wet tyre masterclass lol
