pretty much like when Tommi Mäkkinen won the WRC because Sainz conked out meters from the finish

So if they had restarted with 5 minutes to go, they could have given full points by finishing those ~2 laps?

According to that logic then... yes? Absolute lunacy

Just about sums up the rule makers.

This season could not end soon enough. After Imola its been up there with 2002.

Yes, the championship was one sided, but not sure how you can compare the races to 2002? Far more excitement this season.

Because he doesn't like Max or Red Bull I'm guessing

Let's be assholes about it, and blame Leclerc. If he finished second there would be no championship debate regardless of points awarded.

- Driver nearly colliding with a tractor
- 2 hour red flag for rain
- Wait too long to restart
- Straight back to inters on the restart
- Result changed after the checkered flag because of tarmac run off bullshit
- 75% isn't 75% because reasons
- Fuck up the crowning of your WDC

Truly the FIA's finest 3 hours.

Here's the rule.

It was suspended at lap 2 and resumed later. So.. i dunno.

Hey folks! I haven't post in years but I'm just passing by to say that the FIA are a bunch of clowns who can't even count or follow their own rules.

Thanks and see you probably in 2027.

Love you all.

The field spread in 2002 was insane, it wasn't just MS domination and a team mate not allowed to challenge him, there didn't seem to be any midfied scraps to watch either back then

If I hadn't already had the F1 Digital Plus channel (Which did improve the races 100% as if you got bored you could just watch the on-board channel) even I would've given up on it

Important to discuss 2002 and 2004 right now ;)

No championship have been that bad since they banned refueling and brought back slicks, not Vettels, not Lewis' and now not Max'

This is just RBR’s penalty for overspending. Winning the title in a anticlimactic and confusing way so it doesn’t feel like winning it :whistling:

but if you look into the rules, the race cannot be resumed because it crossed the 3 hour limit. Checkered there was a mere formality

This is why the FIA has done this, so they can quietly bury the "They overspent but meh lets not do anything about it" announcement amid the championship celebrations tomorrow

It shouldn't matter. It should be the same as if you raced 40minutes then had a definitive red flag for outside reasons where racing could not be resumed.

I don't know why the rule isn't just: race time / 2 hours, or laps run / race distance. Easy peasy.

I honestly don’t feel happy. I was jumping and screaming last year but this is just surreal. Doesn’t feel real

Worst part about that season was that said teammate had to pull over 100 yards from the finish of a race "for the championship"

None of that happened this year thankfully

So I guess the 2 laps requirement isn't also needed, provided the race isn't finished by red flags.
I can't even...

This year had insane on-track battles. Even without the championship battle, I still rate it as entertaining as 2021.

Ham-Ocon and Leclerc-Perez were master pieces of car placement and racecraft (until the last chicane at least). And those Russell moves in the esses :8:

Pfft I have an official Formula 1 branded Tinfoil hat (TM) thank you, with the Official FIA tin foil sponsor emblazened on top as well as Mcafree anti-virus tools :whistling:
