Yeah Mercedes fucked this one. Lewis is to blame too with his crappy restart that didn't help George at all..

At least it was an easy 2-3 if they couldn't hold Max.

Russell overruled them. Why didn’t Lewis ?

He is always quick to complain about the team’s calls but never makes calls to overrule them if he thinks it’s the wrong call

100% the only way Mercedes could've won that race was for George to try holding up Max long enough for Lewis' tyres to come up to temperature
Letting George change tyres just handed the race to max, why did they allow that to happen?

We just saw that George wouldn't stand a chance against Max.

Yeah but no-way would he have got passed both of them and then Lewis would've had a lap to warm up his tyres and make a break

I agree it's unlikely Lewis would've won in any circumstance (maybe if the VSC didn't come out but that's still a stretch) but they sacrificed any chance at that to make sure George got 2nd over him

Very bad Mercedes call right there, 2/3 was on the cars and they've made it a 2/4 at best

Monza next, potentially another bad procession.

5s for Sainz for unsafe release.

If I was Ferrari I’d skip Monza. The tifosi will be out for blood

Why would he? The only way Mercedes were winning this race was to keep both cars out, they don't have a chance against Red Bull on the same tyres. Russell overruled them for his own benefit at the expense of the team result, and the team let him

Surely passing under yellows warrants a 10 sec penalty or more?

Would have been a 2-3 if he went to soft too. So Russell’s call helped them to secure p2 at least. Without it it would be P3 max

Was 10th at the time, the scrap with Perez helped him.

If the fans actually held back their flares until after the race, fair play

That's the only time they should be allowed...

The only upside of it is we don't have to hear any fucking booing on the podium by the type of people that go to a motor race and think it's a pantomime :yuk:

Was it even investigated? Was surprised to see it wasn't even noted on-screen.

Eh, pretty typical Lewis. Won't stick his neck out but when the team makes an improper call he's quick to publicly throw them under the bus. Been that way since his McLaren days. Only difference now is he's gotten better at PR so I'm sure we'll see another "we win and lose together as a team" post on his Instagram shortly.
