So Leclerc pitted for fastest lap and extra point. He sped in the pitlane, failed to do the fastest lap, and lost the place to Alonso after his penalty.

Ferrari...

It really is pretty poor. You only pit for fastest lap if you've comfortably got the time in hand. Seems obvious, but apparently not to Ferrari

Feels like a repeat of 2017. Unfortunately Charles is getting a first hand experience of what life for Seb was like at Ferrari before he joined the team. 5 years on...the clown show still goes on.

I was also fearing I could miss Nascar, but the race got quite stable after the halfway point, could split screen both races

I’m seeing the Hamilton incident again. I’m surprised he doesn’t have any back problems after that. He got quite high

When was the last time Hamilton DNF'd after a failed passing attempt? Feels like it was forever ago, as he usually has pretty good spatial awareness in such situations. Not so much today though, as he barely had his nose ahead and turned in expecting Alonso to magically disappear.

Ask Albon about his spatial awareness...

Remember when we held a "farce of the race" poll after each GP? That was back when there was at least some contention for that label.

Except there wasn't contention when Maldonado was driving :p He must have been dominating the polls. After his retirement, it got more meaningful.
Not surprisingly, the final poll was was won by Grosjean.

OMG it's 2013 all over again

There's every chance Max is gonna win every single race from now on, that red bull with a fresh engine is a beast and is clearly the dominant package in F1 now

We are witnessing the red bull era, until at least 2026

If Mercedes get better for 2023 they can fight Ferrari for 3rd but damn, get ready for Red Bull to be the new Mercedes

His spatial awareness was terrible in 2012, but I think his most recent was Spain 2016?

I watched Max' first lap. You can really see how he matured as he just kept calm and stayed behind slower cars where in the past he would make the move on them and get caught up in the first lap mess.

Hopefully Ferrari can catch up next year because otherwise he really will be unstoppable.

It's amusing to see how many people on the social media agree with Alonso, and how quiet the Hamilton fanboys are.

and now for those bonus facts that we love

-Max Verstappen is just the second driver in history to win 2 straight races after starting 10th or worse (the first was Bruce McLaren, won the 1959 US GP after starting 10th and the 1960 Argentine GP after starting 13th.

-100th GP start for Pierre Gasly

-biggest air for Lewis Hamilton (if someone knows how high he went please tell here)

it also looks like that tear off that made Leclerc in early in the race was from Verstappen, what a small world haha

Another stat:
Verstappen's fastest lap was 0.6s faster than Leclerc who pitted for soft tyres. If you ignore that and look at the rest of the field, he was 1.4s faster than his teammate, and 2.6s faster than Sainz. They all did their fastest lap at around the same time in the race.

Yea, his F/L was on similar levels of dominance as his fastest qualifying lap.
However, didn't Leclerc spend half the lap trying to get past Alonso due to Ferrari's poor timing? It's conceivable that if he had clean air he could've made up that 0.6s deficit to set the F/L.
