Hopefully some of the pain will be lessened from next year onwards - https://www.sportskeeda.com/f1/news-f1-spanish-gp-circuit-barcelona-see-modifications-removal-chicane-final-sector

Borecelona *yawn*. Can't remember a single thing from last year's race, or 2020 race for that matter. Can't really see how the new rules might improve racing there.

They should have stopped using the last chicane years ago, at least logically when Baku was added in the calendar. The track without the chicane can't possible be more dangerous than those high speed blind corners we've seen on all new street circuits recent years.

One thing they should also do is move the race from May to November, to replace Abu Dhabi for example. We haven't seen wet race here for over 25 years because springtime is always so dry in Spain. Wet race could actually be quite nice here.

Racing was so shit there when they could use the final 2 corners due to the dirty air generated, even with the long straight afterwards, they thought a chicane was a good idea so the final corner could be more of an acceleration zone and the straight would be even longer

Narrator: They were wrong

I'm not sure what they could do, lest some banking or something to make the 2 final corners a Peraltada like challenge...

It's just a shit track designed for motorbikes and I hope will be the first of the "traditional European tracks" that are apparently in danger in Liberty's quest to expand the sport to places we don't want to to go

Not sure if Sainz pulls in the kinda fans Alonso does, but we have to hope he doesn't just so we can finally be rid of this place

Oh yeah it's not going to change the racing, but if the racing's going to be shit anyway I'd rather they got rid of the chicane. Up there with the Long Beach hairpin for worst corner in motor racing

Ferrari pole, then burn through their tyres in the early stint, Max leading by lap 15

Congrats Max Verstappen 100% win record of the race he finishes

If the rules have worked as intended, the cars will be able to follow more closely through turn 3 and recreate the Hamilton/Rosberg crash :metal:

Spain is damned, they can build a mix of Nordschleife and Spa that races still will be boring

So that's why is the perfect ground to put the beloved gimmicks Liberty wants to put but cannot due traditions

you know track sprinklers turning on at random, joker laps, sprint races with reverse grids and many others

New American fans will be disappointed, should have been the canadian gp now. More exciting track and logistically better

Ferrari 1-2 incoming thanks to their new upgrades, with Sainz finally getting the better of Leclerc (at least for now).

Kubica and Vips will do FP1 for Alfa and Red Bull. Curious to see how Vips will do.

If Kubica counts as one of the two young drivers for Alfa, I hope someone runs Sir Jacky Stewart just for shits and giggles

I see that qualifying is at 16.00, one hour later than usual. Why is that?
