Well I don't blame him being pissed off, if he'd have been allowed past Max earlier then his race would've been completely different as he would've passed George too with a working DRS and built a gap

But Max being held up with a broken DRS became his problem when he wasn't allowed to pass him with better tyres

I don't blame him being pissed off, then DC on channel 4 proved he was still on the Red Bull payroll by saying he needed to shut up and realise what car he's driving. Like don't you dare feel upset or victimised son, take your medicene and deal with it
Jesus Chris DC can be so transparent sometimes

The after race radios from Red bull were pretty sycophantic TBH, worshipping Max and apologising to him like he was a freaking mob boss about the DRS unreliability, yet absolutely nothing was said to him about him spinning and needing to rely on the DRS in the first place (if he hadn't done that it would've been a standard undercut on Charles and a more boring race with the same result)

This title is gonna be over by Hungary or whenever is mathematically the earliest point a title can be won these days
Max will try and get it done before he had parts changing penalties and has to start from the back of the grid in the american/asian swing in October I guess

Lets hope it rains in Monaco

Also Lewis put in a pretty damn good performance, hit off by Magnussen (not sure when he became the poster child here, he was a dangerous fucker before his year off with his weaving and spent his year off bitching about F1 and Haas on social media, yet he gets welcomed back with open arms? I guess that shows how low Mazepin was that literally anyone else seems better) and charges his way back to 1 place behind his team mate (and if he'd had the luck with the VSC the way George had in Miami and a couple of other races, he'd have his podium too) and driver of the day, deservedly.
But of course he checked with the team about saving the engine (something Lewis has always been paranoid about since a blown engine in Malaysia 2016 is the only reason he isn't an 8 time world champion right now, and fuck you for hitting reply and typing something else without reading the rest of this, I'm joking, but reliability is definitely baked in to how these drivers think so I can't blame him for that) so that obviously makes it one of the worst things that's ever happened at a grand prix and he should be banned :whistling:

Both he and Alonso overtaking Bottas around the outside (turn 3 and turn....15 or something) were the passes of the race, so cool to see.

George and Max was pretty fun too, probably the most exciting race in Spain since...2003 or so? (2012 yes, had a fun result but Pastor still ceased the lead from Fernando in the pits so it wasn't that great on track)

Hamilton:
"There was a girl that I spoke to yesterday, who was my little inspiration, Isla, a five-year-old that's terminally ill and she said can you win the race for me tomorrow. I said I don't know if I can win the race, but I'll give it everything. So hopefully for me, that was a bit like a win, and I dedicate it to her."

Also Hamilton after lap 1:
"Guys maybe we should save the engine and park it."

Given how Toto is literally asking Hamilton for forgiveness for fielding a bad car this is unlikely to happen. And Russell is probably too polite to force the issue. Either he doesn't have Hamilton's character (going back to the 2007 McLaren where there wasn't much respect shown to the champion teammate) or the fact both are from GB makes it very awkward for Russell to openly demand full support over the senior teammate. The best news for Russell is time is on his side and Mercedes has a very little chance of fighting for titles this season so he can see the thing out and maybe there will be more Hamilton 'we have to park the car' meltdowns sooner rather than later?

this is something I don't understand. Unless Mercedes figure something out and win 10 straight races title chase is pretty much at it. So why not give some trust to George to see how well he goes given he's on a great form and providing more points than Mercedes could have, he's the future of the team, right

unless Merc pays Verstappen out of Red Bull once Hamilton retires

Yeah, just a racing incident that can happen at the start. Lewis slides wide a bit and Mags could have given more room. If lewis didnt slide wide, both would have made the corner. Sometimes you're just unlucky at the start.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's picked up on this. I could agree more!

I don't like Magnussen either, no need for him in F1.

It's funny that suddenly the narrative around him changed back to negative now that the Lewis fanboyarmy has been woken up after the collision last sunday.

I think he made a great effort in keeping one of the Mercs out of contention but I hope he could hold on his aggressiveness because that could spill on championship contenders and recreate a Spa 2012 moment

Magnussen's move on Hamilton is what I would expect to see coming from a driver in his second year in the field. Not from an experienced driver. Tried to be aggressive but ended up just being the biggest loser in the matter.

Apart from the mean, under-the-belt remark about the little girl story: what was Hamilton's finishing position again? What did he do on the other 60 laps you choose to completely ignore, focusing on a lap1 racing incident and a comment in the heat of the moment?

Your obsession would be laughable if it wasn't sad, mate  I wonder if you even enjoy this sport behind this toxic grudge.

So let me ease you in that delusional head space of yours: I am a Hamilton fanboy you struck the nerve of. There is no constructive point to be taken from my comment above, just the regular Ham fanboy butthurt of not seeing his idol winning every race. :(

Lewis made those remarks, not me. I am merely placing them side by side.

Ah, always with the "heat of the moment" excuse. That's been used in his defense countless times.

You realise Lewis is so rich he doesn't need to live in your head rent free?

I wouldn't even say it was something said in the heat of the moment. It was just a suggestion given the dire situation he was in at that moment. He could even drive a half-assed race and say "I told you so", but went there and put up a hell of a performance.

I'm far from being a Lewis fan, but an awesome race is an awesome race. People will bash him for a wrong comma said in a team radio during a tough time, but won't say a word about Max's 100 swearings per minute during the race or even his swearing on live interviews.

It's Borecelona, you don't expect much passing. It was hot, very hot so the idea to save the engine in that case was plausible.

Verstappen's radio was atrocious, but those attacking Hamilton will just say it's understandable and in the heat of the moment
