Alonso has stated that he wants to go on for a couple of more years. His results actually don't reflect on his driving this year. He has been quite fast and more impressive than Ocon in my opinion. If he goes on, Pisatri is burned, and his only real option will be Vettel calling it quits and trying to go to Aston. If Vettel goes on, Piastri will be the new Nyk Devries. Well that also all depends on McLaren sticking with Ricciardo. I actually think it will be 50/50 if his poor form continues.

If Mick doesnt improve I can see his ass being on the chopping block as well.

what amuses me regarding the Mercedes downfall is that even when top drivers who fought for the championship had bad seasons in the next year rarely ran in the bottom half (Mansell in 88 and Prost in 91 were plagued by bad reliability and could keep running for points when the car finished) or even failed title defenses (like Villeneuve in 1998, who didn't fought for wins but was at least finishing in the points with certain consistency)

the exception might be Hill in 97 but he wasn't in a top notch ride anymore

Yea next to Latifi, he's been the most disappointing driver so far for me. I expected him to be slower than Magnussen to start the year but the in the region of 0.3s slower, not the 0.5-1.0s slower that he consistently is. And to make matters worse, his season has been filled with unforced errors. Would've been fun to see what Hulkenberg could've done in that car.
