Is that already the updated track map? I thought the changes would be bigger.

I really missed watching F1 in these weird times. Here in Brazil, the race will be at 2 AM. The whole effort to watch a race at this time makes it fun no matter how boring the race is.

Are there 4 DRS zones (the green bits), or just 2? Seems excessive, but then there has been very little passing here recently. Excited to see the new, fast back section. Side by side through there will be very risky.

It almost feels like a Monza or Hockenheim now. Lots of high speed sections broken up by chicanes. I wonder how high the average speed will be.

2 detection zones for 4 DRS zones it seems. Looks like you can pull a gap after passing and make everything easier

So it's the first time we come back here since that whole "Bottas 2.0 Porridge Fuck you" thing in 2019?

Feels like a decade ago

After 5 consecutive races where weather forecast wasn't relevant, it's refreshing to see that...it's warm and dry for the whole weekend just like in the Middle East. :p Anyway, for first race it's good to see how the track upgrades work in normal conditions.

After seeing some simulations, it's funny how much the section from T8 to T9 resembles Jeddah. With Miami in May, and Las Vegas and Doha following next year, we are really living in an era of streetcircuitization of F1. Well, it's better than Tilketization of the early 2000s, I guess.

they realized that making tracks faster and with close wall like ovals are a path to success (if you consider random crashing and several red flag/SC derpness as success)

First race since Brazil last year to be run during the day. That´s 6 races ago.

That's stupid. It was a novelty with Singapore, now it's just plain stupid.

Looking forward to this one. Doesn't matter to me if it's a wet or dry race.

Doesn't surprise me, the track doesn't produce the most exciting of races... good thing it's not in the middle east or we'd all be calling for it's axing lol

Pirelli are bringing non-consecutive tyre compounds for the first time since the current rules have been in place. C2 C3 and C5

Alonso passed Button on a restart in 2006

in 2006 and 2009 racing was quite good at this track, but those were exceptions that confirmed the rule

perhaps with actual driving standards, lots of DRS zones and cars built to overtake we might see lots of SC during the race (and probably ended under red flag to avoid dusk)

Post subject:  Re: Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022

After what happened at Jeddah, this many DRSs will make this a very infamous race, might be action packed but for the wrong reasons. Might really give momentum to the talk about changing DRS or banning it altoguether....

But none of this shadows the fact that we are finally back at Albert Park and giving it a go for the new track, really looking forward to this weekend.
