the main issue with Sainz is that he didn't stepped out of the car as he was waiting for some sort of Lakitu to put him back on the track. He should had gone out right away and because of that they had to do that

that's what happens when you get used to tarmac runoffs

100% This! Even though I was annoyed it was Max again for the 2nd time in 3 races I do hope we will see this more often the coming years.
Just dont let it be the same few guys over and over but everyone being a potential victim,

We also have a DNF for Perez and Sainz, and a lousy 10th place for Hamilton which is almost as good as a DNF. So after 3 races, apart from Leclerc, all championship contenders have lost valuable points.

Next year I'm getting grandstand seats.

I go to the grand prix every year courtesy of friends who give me free tickets because they work in motorsport

It's time to stop being a tight arse and buy a seat :slaphead:

I´ve never bought grandstand seats. Being stuck on the same seat all day or even all weekend? No thanks. General admission, and walk around the track. Although maybe I´m spoiled with Spa where you can visit every corner.
And based on my visits to Barcelona for pre season testing, if general admission is half as accessible during race weekend as during tests, it´s still good enough.

My strategy is to get grandstands, move around during the morning sessions and/or lower series, then when it's time for the big sessions and the crowd starts growing, get to the seat to actually see something.

GA is really cool, but in practical terms, you either have to come very early and stay put at that place, or barely get a glimpse of the action behind the crowd. It ends up being more restrictive than a grandstand. I did Le Mans last year in GA, and managed to be late at the start chicane with no issues. But capacity was reduced to 1/5th due to Covid and it was already borderline, and you can always go grandstands in the night as they don't check tickets anymore. I don't imagine being able to do the same in full capacity, I would buy a proper grandstand.

security was pretty lax in some areas throughout the race - I got in at Gate 2 without my camera bag being checked

LOL, didn't saw that when I was checking Albon's onboard for the end of the race.

I did realize that they almost fucked up in the pitstop. LF was really slow.

What I find quite amusing is that before Mercs crazy new sidepods, the talk was how the new car was killing it in the simulator. Leading to believe it was going to be a mega car. Where as the reality is, they have produced a dog of a car. If they were so blind sided by just how woefully unprepared, or unaware they were with porposing, then that car is a lost cause.

I feel that Mercedes's own hubris has killed this car. They got too clever for their own good.

Because from that graph above, they have the same range of porposing as Ferrari, approx 0.3 g (starting from a lower level, which would also indicate that Ferrari should be hurt MORE than they are because they have a higher amplification of aero separation) yet are miles off their pace. Which suggests that their problem are more than just porposing.

Seems like Mercedes made the ground effect too efficient without taking the purposing into account. Same problem with Lotus in 79.

Is it about porpoising?

Is there an article that provides:
- Source
- What the graph describes (I assume vertical G's from porpoising? But this needs to be explicit. And at what speed?)
- What is the full rectangle and why is there a split its middle?
- What are the white bars? Error bars normally, but is that amplitude of confirmed measurements, or uncertainty in data?
- Whether it's better to have a high amplitude, or a high average, or both? We see the two best teams (F and RB) with opposed results.

I'm being an ass, but that's what I would "kindly ask" whoever provided this graph to clarify and come the fuck back with something that doesn't need me to assume shit and break my brain trying to make some sense of it

Yes, I'm currently at work assuming shit and breaking my brain trying to make some sense of obscure data that COULD HAVE BEEN CLEAR FROM THE START GODDAMMIT
