just wait and see, once Mercedes set out their car (and use FIA to fuck Ferrari) there'll be no competition
FIA fuck Ferrari? That's got to be the stupidest prediction I've heard in my entire life. Have you completely forgotten about the FIArarri years? Do you not understand the vested interest that Formula 1 has in Ferrari, the oldest team in the pack, to continue being involved with the sport?

I really hope you're joking

You mean the FIA that when Ferrari found the same trick Mercedes was using, stopped Ferrari using it but let Mercedes continue… allegedly… you mean that Ferrari supporting FIA?

Formula One is not the FIA.

Apparently the fuel pump is a spec part that teams had already said could cause issues.

? "same trick"

i remember ferrari cheating with their fuel flow limits, getting caught, and then the fia and ferrari going to a back room to work it out amongst themselves without having to explain it to anybody.

Still can´t believe the Haas performance of this weekend. They were an absolute joke for the past 3 years. Grosjean and Magnussen were making a mess of it, last year the car was an absolute disaster, and in the first race of the new season they get into Q3 without problems and score a 5th place (7th on speed). I thought they were done for good, but here they are.

Im really happy for the Haas team, our friend Gunther ...... Steiner can sleep now for the rest of season cuz he got points.
Also Ferrari really did their homework, if you look at Alfa and Haas the engine is great.
Hopefully Ferrari wont fuck it up like in 2017/2018, after summer break they just went down.

Either the crowd was amplified or the fans really were that loud.

Both Ferrari and Haas really did benefit from giving up on the 2021 cars early and putting everything into this year. Probably didn't hurt if they still share data too.

Fake crowd noises have been a thing in other sports since the pandemic broke out. I remember a US Open that was aired to Brazil by two different channels, and one of them had fake noises and the other had just ambient sound, for example. But it was a first for F1 surely - you don't hear such crowd noises unless it's a race in Brazil or a race crowded by orange fans.

It feels weird but I get the point to make F1 feel a little more human.

No

The bias was that, for literally any other team, they'd have been publicly humiliated and probably had a compettitive penalty on track

Because it was Ferrari, and Ferrari's image is tied to the sport as a whole they went with the whole cover up and private penalty that probably led to them being shit for 2019 until they let them do it again for Monza, obviously and the season after that

I also heard Red Bull was running illegally for the whole of 2021.....allegedly

Easy to make up rumours isn't it?

As for the race, what a new era we've entered into
Feels very 2009 with the regulations bringing us a shake up of the compettitive order and downforce less great racing
Who knows if the people making the headlines now will keep it going or someone will get a Brawn and Toyota style drop off as the big guns come back at them....but it's gonna be a lot of fun for a few races at least

And people have me pegged as a Mercedes fan her, because I dunno it's easy mud slinging route 1 internet debate technique or whatever, but tbh I'm much more invested in the tribulations of Mclaren and how bad it's looking for them
Doesn't look like there's going to be a quick fix for them too

Mercedes you can imagine will get their act together eventually, if not for this season then next
But Mclaren and Williams look destined to be the Haas and Alfa of 2022 and...who knows how long for?

Well I certainly didn't think LeClerc would get a Grand Chelem. Awesome race by him.

One race in and I am already sensing Verstappen will be insufferable on the radio this year. I'll take a Hamilton "My tires are gone Bono" and then pumps in a fastest lap over "I'm never listening to you ever again" from Verstappen. Petulant shit.

My oh my, what on Earth happened to McLaren. They were looking very good in Barcelona with genuine pace, and now back of the grid stuff??? Hope for their sake that was just track specific.

And Hass and K Mag, finishing that high up on merit. Hope they can at least maintain that for at least the start of the season.

Crosses fingers Ferrari don't go all Ferrari post Schumacher years on us and implode and squander what looks to be a great car.

Why can't they just get the backmarkers to the back of the pack instead of waving them. I will never understand this. It seems tye no brainer solution.

Late reply, but the answer to this question has always been keeping all teams on a level playing field with number of laps completed. If you allow lapped cars to make the lap up without physically making it up, you open the door to strategies running higher fuel flow and dropping back to complete less laps which would quickly turn farcical.

Unless you're suggesting they drop to the back of the field and stay a lap down, in which case I 100% agree.

now the silver rats got precious points with that dog of a car. Thank you for nothing

And we have here a kind of medieval thinking that no longer fits in civilization, in 2022... How is it possible that someone encourages this, that a pilot when he makes a mistake has to deliberately hit his opponent? Frankly... And he calls a team that he just doesn't like "rats", "dogs", the lack of civility is regrettable. The Colosseum in Rome had the kind of entertainment that people like that like.
