Last year's race

A new generation of cars meant lots of porpoising and reliability issues for Red Bull late in the race. Leclerc led Ferrari to a 1-2 finish.

Somehow I'm not too hyped. Bahrain just feels wrong for a season opener. It's missing the atmosphere of Albert Park, and there are already too many night races. These high contrast carbon-black cars look bad and almost identical under floodlights. For the sake of variation, they should alternate day and night races every other year.

Anyway, interested to see how the teams will perform and whether everyone's predictions from testing will hold. Will Aston Martin get a podium? How's Mercedes? Is it going to be Max-show? Sakhir has often given us exceptionally good wheel-to-wheel battles, so in this regard at least the race is probably going to be more entertaining than (dry) Albert Park.

Plus it's good to have both F3 and F2 seasons started already. Going to be a busy weekend if you're to watch all sessions.

Since Hamilton/DTS fans still won´t accept that Verstappen won at least one if not two titles in an honest way, I hope he wins even more races than last year and that nothing can be found to bring a glimpse of doubt to him or the team.
And then for 2024 we can have a tense fight between Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. In best case scenario without mudfighting and false accusations, but I realise that the chance of Alonso becoming world champion are bigger than that.

Same feeling here. Not too hyped, perhaps because of the prospect of a dominating season for Red Bull combined to starting to feel disconnected/too old for this F1. But doesn't matter. Sunday I'll be there!

It's strange. I never feel any excitement towards Bahrain, but it does often produce a good race. It helps that there's a second DRS detection point at the end of the straight. The overtaken car always has a chance to take their place back (like Charles and Max last year). It just feels wrong that it's not Australia or Brazil, I guess.

Hopefully Mercedes and Ferrari are somewhere near the pace of Red Bull. I worry for McLaren.

but the actual purpose is to fill Netflix with wheels banging and bonehead moves to create crashes to increase early season drama

Speaking of which, the DRS zone in the main straight has been shortened a bit.

Given the extensive data they have from last year's race and testing, I expect the new DRS zone to be 100m too short to be useful.

Our most popular driver, Lance Stroll, is fit enough to race this weekend.

Quite sad news for us Brazilians. But it is the right thing to do.

judging by how the things are going, he'll go through qualifying until he says it's uncomfortable to drive and the doctors disallow him to race, leaving one empty slot at the grid

Lewis fans - as admirers of good drivers and good races - admire Max a lot, they just don't agree with how the F1 administration decides how races or championships should be decided. No fans of the seven-time champion Lewis have anything against the two-time champion Max, they are exceptional drivers and we live in an era of great drivers and disputes. 2023 season shouldn't be any different, at least on the track, outside of it, well... we already know how it works.

Yeah, when Lewis was winning, Max was always my second driver since his time in Formula 3, he always was the one you could rely on to bring the excitement and brave overtakes to liven up the racing.

It's always weird to see my two favourite drivers go up against each other, don't make me choose! lol

Maybe this year Max will be doing the winning and Lewis livening up the races with charges through the field, lets hope anyway

A few changes to the team logos in the TV tower, which is nice. Still hard to read the soft compound though.

Bahrain produces great races, but it's not the feeling i had when we had Albert Park.
Hope Redbull isn't 3 levels above everybody else.
