The current teams are so worried a new team would cut into their share but if the right team comes in their share would indeed shrink percentage wise but the actual amount would rise since it brings more revenue to the sport.
I honestly believe the Andretti name alone would increase popularity in the USA.

The teams behavior always reminds me of this Family guy scene

one thing that hasn't been often discussed is how McLaren is handling their business. The road cars are draining their resources day by day and is one big reason the racing team is on a big slump

now they are coming with a new proposal for a SUV to take on the market where you already have many players and they're selling part of their collection (including those classic ones from the late 80's/early 90's) to vocer up expenses

perhaps they could be the ones selling their spot on the grid for another one wanting to play the F1 gig

The FIA (and by extension the teams) are living in their own bubble and believing all of their own hype around their "franchises". When the reality of it, is that at least 4 teams have the possibility of not existing in their current guise in 5 years.

Williams are hanging on by a thread with an investment firm that have just fired their CEO and TD and have no replacement lined up in sight. How long before they sell to try and get a return on their investment?

Haas? Well I I have no idea how many CNC machines Haas actually sells, but I have this tiny little conspiracy theory in my brain that he is using the F1 team in an elaborate money laundering scheme. He does after all have form in that area and spent 16 months in prison for this very thing.

How long will Alpha Tarui be around now that Dietrich Mateschitz has passed away?

Alpine/Renault are a notoriously fickle company when it comes to F1 and can't really be counted on. There has been a nagging threat of them packing it up and leaving for most of their time as a team and if they spend the next several years just plodding along without success I can realistically see the board saying enough is enough.

And McLaren are selling assets left right and center after taking a big bail out by their investors a couple of years back, while still falling behind in the competitive order. As stated above, are they positioning themselves as a take over target?

F1 is blinded by the supposed value of these "franchises", but is not looking at the fact that Williams, Haas and McLaren are in pretty bad shape and precariously placed. They are decidedly not healthy and can easily fold, and then you have ownership of two other teams that hinge on how long their owners want a return on their investment.

Just because someone says said team is worth xxx amount of money does not mean that that team is in a healthy state. If another big financial crunch happens then F1 could potentially lose 30-40% of the grid. The back end of the grid IS NOT healthy.

And don't forget. All the teams, Apart from Ferrari ,are there JUST for money and publicity. Ferrari doesn't need it anymore, what's worse, the F1 disasters are making a bad publicity.
So I expect Alpine, Mclaren, Alpha Tauri to be gone in next 5 years. Mercedes if they don't win anything also.

Lance Stroll 2027 F1 champion (4 car grid).

In other news, Albert Park will be the home of the Australian Grand Prix until 2037. If the sport or even the world still exists by then.

Didn't they recently sign long contract when they announced the track changes?

Are they feeling the pressure of a resurgent Adelaide to lock in the GP long term so they can't have it stolen from them?

Lets hope Clipsal goes for Indycar or something to try and compete ;)

Think it was locked in until 2029, but for some unknown reason it's now locked in even longer.

Adelaide's attendances were falling dramatically until COVID, they've had a bounce back but they've got a long way to go before getting a marquee event back.

If that's right, the race will be 3 or 4pm on Monday for east coast Australians

Same start time as the Aus GP I think was said. Nice to have another race at a suitable time zone for this part of the world and for those complaining about 2am etc. you have the rest of the weekend to recover... you'll be fine

LOL... 10PM start in Vegas is a 1AM start for the East Coast.

Some of the biggest markets in the home country won't even be awake to watch it.

Should be a 7-9AM start for most of Europe though I think.

Which is probably why it's that late.

Which I assume is why they've done it, but it still doesn't make much sense to me. Anyone who isn't going to bother getting up at 3am on a Sunday morning is unlikely to bother getting up at 7am either, so you're playing to the same small group of die-hard fans either way. May as well make it properly anti-social for Europeans so it's a decent time for the East Coast. A US Grand Prix that starts too late for half of the US is just stupid.

Indeed. There's a reason West Coast Baseball and Football games start at 5PM local time.

Odd choice for sure.

perhaps Liberty don't want to clash the race time with other american sports that might be going to happen

UFC often does that when they host their events in Vegas

Why don't they just start the Vegas gp very early local time, and drive into the sunrise. Would make it stand out more imo. People there can first gamble all night in a casino, and then catch the race afterwards.

Sunrise is 6:21 on november 19, so let's start the race at 6 am I'd say. The start time would be the same as any other European gp round then
