funny that China hosted the 1000th GP and F1 never came back, meanwhile Austria had 5 races (plus one sprint) in the past 3 seasons

Schedule a chinese round every year, take the sanctioning fee, then say "sorry you've made it logistically unfeasable for us to race there, no refunds, bye"

That was Korea. One time they cancelled it a week before or something

Toto's inside man, or better said, woman, Shaila-Ann Rao will leave the FIA.

In unconfirmed news, headphones are being smashed at Brackley and screams like "NO BENNIE THATS SO NOT RIGHT" are being heard.

and now that the season's over let's do a big wrap up on the stats from this year

.2nd world championship for Max Verstappen (equals many all time greats as Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Alberto Ascari and many other such as Fernando Alonso, Emerson Fittipaldi and Mika Hakkinen)
.2nd world title for a dutch driver (equals USA and Spain on 10th overall)
.5th constructors world championship for Red Bull

.with Hamilton failing to win a race this year his streak of at least one victory per season ends with 15 straight seasons (equals Michael Schumacher record from 1992 to 2006). The active drivers still able to beat this record are Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and George Russell. Perez also might have a chance but is very unlikely

.while Hamilton failed to beat the victory streak, he now holds the record for most seasons with at least one podium finish with 16

.17 straight years with at least one british driver winning a race (record also belongs to the UK with 21 seasons in the 1953-1973 span)

.19 straight years with at least one pole position start for a british driver (equals all time record that also belongs to the UK on the 1955-1973 span)

.UK also holds the distinction for having drivers scoring points in every single season of the F1 world championship

.Fernando Alonso is now the driver with most starts (356), most laps completed (19.153) and most km raced (95.684)

.16th straight season with at least one victory for a Mercedes powered car (3rd overall behind Ferrari [20] and Cosworth [17])

.20th straight season with at least one pole position start for a Mercedes powered car (all time record)

some interesting numbers this year despite being so much difficult for dominant teams from past years

Sounds about right, didn't think those rumours were unfounded, they just didn't want to shift the focus away from the last race. No doubt the press release will say that he 'resigned' to avoid the public embarrassment of being fired, after having been with the team for so long.

more like a mutual agreement in which he'll be diverted to internal affairs

Of the 2 italian principals who you guys think was the best.
Arrivabene vs Binotto?
I think ferrari as usual makes the dumb move to sack Binotto.
They should have put him back at engineering.

Are they turfing out the strategy team as well? At minimum there were two, maybe three races at the start and beginning of the year where they threw away victory. Those would have gone a long way to making the season more presentable. But Binotto was a complete bozo to say hey we can win all of the remaining 9 races, and then promptly not win any, and fall behind Mercedes. Pretty sure that comment had a big part to play in his demise.

Sounds like Mick will be joining Mercedes as a reserve driver, in the same role vacated by De Vries.

2 weeks ago: rumours that Binotto will be fired. Denied by all parties and rightly so. He isn´t fired, he "resigned" :D

It's like Manchester United - Ferrari aren't a "sacking team"

or the traditional "mutual agreement" aka "we are firing you but take this load of cash and say you wanted to leave"

Hopefully the hire someone for the role with actual management and leadership skills, rather than just trying to promote one of their own from within.

So what´s next for him? Accept an important role in FIA or F1 and destroy the sport even further? Seems to be a thing for ex Ferrari bosses.

There's a very tasty Hypercar program that needs management...
