I prefer a red flag and complete restart over 10 laps behind a SC

I have been awake since 1am to watch the world cup, but fuck it, I'm going to give a controversial opinion no-one asked for.

Ferrari are probably the most overrated sporting organization in modern sports history. Outside of the Schumacher era they've only won 1 drivers championship since 1981, which, let's be honest, they fluked (2007).

I know that's making stats bend for my argument but still, outside of the years of 00-04 they've achieved fuck all in the sport. They've chewed up and spat out so many personnel and drivers, maybe it's their organization that's the issue?
HUGE Ferrari fan here, and what you spoke was the absolute truth!

It's honestly infuriating year after year watching the same mistakes, wasted talent, poor decisions, etc.

The issues are squarely at the top.

Luca was the last connection to the Old Man and the team, and company as a whole, changed when he was forced out.

Wonder if they'll replace the Chinese round with another track or just leave as is

Yeah, sadly won't happen unless there's a worse pandemic than Covid.

Oh yes, Mugello was surprisingly very good racing for F1

It's gonna be either Portimão or Istanbul.

Portimão has a calendar clash with WEC though on that weekend, despite the government having talks, and Istanbul is logistically easier than going from Australia to the western tip of Europe to Central Asia in a month.

Meh, they are going from Europe to Miami to Europe to Canada to Europe and so on. I´m surprised they didn´t plan South Africa between Bahrain and Saudi-Arabia

Arguably (well imo) F1 was at it's most exciting when they used to be more liberal with safety cars.

They don't need to take the piss and throw a safety car when a marshall farts, but they could throw them more instead of using VSC's.

More than the entertainment value, marshals can clear up an incident scene quicker when the cars are packed up the other side of the track from them, than a constant pass-by of cars more interested in their delta times on their dashboard than worrying about the incident on track
(Proffessor Watkins talks about this in his book, though ironically it was about wanting a red flag over a SC in Monza 2000 to deal with the injured marshal rather than having the danger and specifically the noise of the pack passing them by every 2 mins making even radio communication impossible)

In my view the ONLY time marshals should be on a live race track is under SC conditions with the pack of cars not in their track sector
But that's probably coloured by working as a marshal first at go-kart tracks and then oval races
(And you might think there's a world away from a piddily little go-kart to a live Formula 1 car, but if even a kart hits you while spinning under yellows while you're trying to pull his mate out of the tyres, it'll get your attention well enough)

Both please!

But I think I'd prefer Portimao slightly over Turkey, just for the novelty factor and the fact that run from the banked final corner onto the straight is hella cool, and maybe they can change the T1 layout every time they're there for variety too...

But either would be a great replacement tbh, but the way the calender is, you can't begrudge all the hard working mechanics and team personell having an early season break either.

WEC clash? No problem, make them all share the track and the overall winner becoming the badass driver of them all

Crossing my fingers that happens as I'm actually going to be in Tuscany on vacation in April!

Patrick Tambay passed away this morning.

I was a big fan of him when he commented F1 in France (and my favorite commentator) and will be truly missed. :(
