FIFA and UEFA already revoked all football teams

Let's see if the russians here make money speak louder

So unfair for the drivers.

I mean, one thing is to force Russia to stop their attacks with economic blocking or whatever, but what fault has a guy like Mikhail Aleshin (just an example), that the leader of his country is a megalomaniac nutjob?

Next, the ATP Tour will ban russian players, including their brand new #1?

Unfair, yes. But can you imagine the protest from the crowd when the Russian team enters the field, or the Russian player the tennis court? People won´t stop shouting until they leave again. I think it´s impossible for now for any Russian to appear in public.

they could always revoke their citizenship and apply for a license in another country.
UAE is always open for new drivers to showcase their racing federation abroad

It is unfair indeed. And that is the bad on the sanctions, of any kind. They hurt people who have nothing to do with the actual problem while the ones who caused all the troubles we are witnessing can get away somehow.

At the same time. There is a huge injustice happening in Ukraine. That makes it really hard to care on injustice on motorsport. On injustice towards Mazepin. Screw him. I feel a little bad for Shwartzman, but nothing enough to make a muscle of mine to move.

That is an interesting one to see how it unfolds. The two top male players from Russia have openly expressed themselves against the war.

Tennis is one sport where players don't really participate under a national flag save for Davis & Fed Cup (which is often overlooked by top players if not for being required to take part in Olympic Games).

Tennis is a sport funded by the players' families more than any national boards. It is a rich man's sport but also probably the most individual of all individual sports.

that also remembers me of the case of Enrique Mansilla, who happened to be developing his career right when UK and Argentina went on war and he lost all the support despite being a teammate to Ayrton Senna and putting up a challenge

Well, I guess politics can help a career and politics can destroy a career.

And also the whole bunch of Venezuelan drivers that came up in the late 00's and early 10's that vanished when the Venezuelan economy went to shambles.

Elsewhere, I see that Andretti is miffed at the response he is getting from the 10 existing teams.

Which is funny seeing as he has in the not-too-distant past been calling for franchises in Indycar as well.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Sadly, what we are seeing now is the culmination in anti-Russian rhetoric that has accumulated over the past 10 years or so.

Russians and Belarrusians will be able to compete under a neutral flag. No events will take place there, though.

Outdated information from last year. Mazepin raced under the RAF flag in 2021 and the Belarusian MAZ was banned from racing at the Dakar Rally.

It is up to date, from today's WMSC meeting. No more RAF flag, they will race under the FIA flag.

adding an extra team means the revenue the teams divvy up at the end of the season has an extra slice to be accounted for. teams are always gonna be hesitant about making their shares smaller

it's still douchey tho

I think that's the appropriate action tbh, most of them are innocent with what's happening

Tbh I think having another US team more than enough adds value to Formula One, so yea... quite douchey of them

They still agreed on getting paid 20m each just for giving the thumbs up to a new team.

That should make up the difference.

I guess they never thought someone would be willing to pay 200m just to enter lol

FIA also demands a solid project, right. Perhaps they fear someone doing a great job right away and taking prize money by assault from well estabilished teams

so it comes to a dilemma, FIA wants the new entrants to be competent, but the other teams doesn't want that
