might be, Lewis is not a driver that have a big drop in performance, not even in those years that he was acting more like a celebrity than a F1 driver

according to the evening standard (seems like a lewis friendly publication, so take it with a grain of salt) mercedes has been using lewis' car to experiment in an attempt to improve the car https://au.sports.yahoo.com/f1-golden-era-danger-max-093137161.html

"While teammate George Russell has more generally been given the safer setup, Hamilton has offered himself up as a guinea pig for Mercedes to test out and try to remedy the ills of the car."

This is what I've been reading from the more in-depth motorsport press too, culminating in the practice sessions in Canada which Hamilton said was a disaster and then decided to use the baseline setup George had been using for qualifying

I get the feeling Mercedes have stopped chasing the extreme set up they've been looking for to return them to dominance and are just going to settle for what they have for the rest of the year.
They wanted the 3 second dominance their wind tunnel told them the sidepodless design would bring them, but now they realise if they chase that, they could end up further down the field as the rest of the grid develops their more traditional designs.
They can also see the ferrari reliability issues and think there's a chance of 2nd place in the constructors title race up for grabs, now it's impossible for anyone to beat red bull, realistically

A rather good explanation of the issue between the teams this weekend.
Netflix got some good material for their new season it seems

at least they have reliability which shows the size zero package doesn't affect critical components

funny thing is that the directive allowing a secondary floor stay didn't even advantage mercedes. they tried in fp1 but didn't run it in qualy or the race. the limits put in place on forces to the driver are actually more likely to be a disadvantage to mercedes than anything else. everyone seems to think mercedes is writing the rules or that the fia is manipulating the championship, when the reality is that the fia absolutely should be implementing directives that address driver safety. i actually thought the fia's ruling on porpoising was a brilliant way of addressing driver safety and telling mercedes to raise their ride height at the same time

The FIA must be really pissed off because they saw this coming when the rules were written, had an anti-porpoising measure ready to go, but the teams voted it down saying "nah, we'll be alright" and then proceeded to get us into this mess we're in now

Considering all the teams seem to have made massive gains over Mercedes with that decision, I doubt any of them are regretting it.

AMUS is reporting that another manufacturer, besides Audi, Porsche and Honda is seriously considering entering F1 in 2026. Probably American.
Could Ford return?

Also, if all rumors come true, would this be the biggest list of engine manufacturers in F1?

Ford have been shutting down plants around the world in the last two years, so I'm guessing it's not them...

A company known for delivering a solid product but also for making grand predictions that never really work out as promised?

Yes, they would fit in just fine

Audi is rumored to have already bought 25% of Sauber's shares with another 50% on the way. Guess that's why the Andretti deal fell tru.

Also, with Porsche joining RBR (rumored to be done deal) and Audi snapping up Sauber, this should give room for Andretti to join as team #11 since those 2 arent interested.

And Vettel is rumoured to be involved, as driver or as leader.

The US coverage is staying on Disney.

https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/D ... ts-us.aspx

Although the fee is 15 times what it currently is, so I wouldn't bank on the races staying free of commercials or being able to rely on F1TV as an alternative.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

According to AMuS a compromise in the budget cap should be reached soon.
Teams apparently can spent between 3 and 4.2 million outside of the budget cap.

While I have my doubts about the honesty of some teams that want to expand it I do feel it is a typical F1/FIA/FOM thing to come up with a budget cap but apparently no-one considered adding some sort of emergency inflation correction clause.

You can argue they just have to cut back on upgrades to make it work but there is no denying that certain costs (electricity, gas, petrol) has dramatically increased since the war in Ukraine.

Piquet Sr. is now being cancelled because he called Lewis the equivalent of the N word in Portuguese back in November.

I don´t speak Portuguese, so I don´t understand the context where he said it. Is it justified or splitting hairs?

Nelson Piquet always had a big mouth for everything. He still says that Brundle was Walkinshaw's loverboy

but I thought he was cancelled earlier because he became the president's chaffeur
