It's a great onboard. Deserves a 4K remaster.
RIP Tambay.

those 80's onboards were shot with film right? It'd look sweet on 4k

It's gonna be either Portimão or Istanbul.

Portimão has a calendar clash with WEC though on that weekend, despite the government having talks, and Istanbul is logistically easier than going from Australia to the western tip of Europe to Central Asia in a month.

Rather ambitiously, the premier of South Australia has said he is open for F1 to return to the Adelaide street circuit or Tailem Bend, and they plan on going to the FIA.

Both circuits would need homologation and changes however, plus Melbourne would have to permit them as they have exclusivity rights.

So 1 in a 1000 chance it happens, but it's not zero.

If Melbourne doesn't agree, they should just go get IndyCar. It's cheaper too.

find the original negatives and a 4k remaster would be amazing :flag:

F1 around Adelaide would be lovely but... it surely couldn't work nowadays, could it? The cars are huge compared to what they were when F1 used to come to town.

I'd love to see it, of course; Melbourne's great but it just doesn't have the same feeling as Adelaide used to. I guess it might have just been the end-of-term nature of it all, but you used to feel the party atmosphere leaking out of your telly watching it.

I'm ok with both tracks on the calendar, one as the Aussie GP and the other as Pacific GP

I want quality racing, not quantity, and I don´t feel like sprint races are adding quality. Except Brazil 2022.

Ah well, our moaning won´t change their mind.

Wahey, MaTT! Hope you're doing well mate.

Agree with you about Adelaide. Would love to see it, but racing would be fairly non-existent with the current cars, I think. They'd need to spend a bit of money on the circuit too, SAFER at turn 8 for example.

F1 has finally found it's ultimate gimmick - the standing start

they use them after red flags and now they use them twice in one weekend for a few times a year

bunch up the field, why not

Here's my proposed layout. Added two potential overtaking points (although one sharp right hander onto Botanic Road has no run off currently

4.47km long (old F1 layout was 3.7km long)

Image

*Current V8 layout goes down Bartels Road
**Old F1 layout went down Rundle Road

First Yellowflag, now MaTT, what is it about the off season that brings them all back....

.....(oh yeah, the off season lol)

I can't see F1 being ok with Adelaide in its current guise, especially turn 8. Safer or not, they'd want a chicane in front of it I'd imagine.
Plus they seem set on their end of season date now in early december, but that's a few weeks too late now for non-Covid era F1

Awesome to see you both still posting here Schumifan and Codename! Can’t believe it’s over 20 years since I joined this community back on the original board. Lando Norris was three back then! Hope you guys are well. I’m about to hit the big four-zero next week. Doesn’t time fly?

I think it’d take a lot of work to make Adelaide F1-ready, as you guys mentioned. Probably enough that it might take the edge off that particular charm the venue has. I do quite like the layout proposed by peterohanrahanrahan (PETER YOU’VE LOST THE NEWS!) up there, mind.

So Ferrari hire Vasseur from Alfa Romeo. Will it change anything? Maybe. Will it make them world champions again? I doubt it

unless he has the balls to kick off all the italians and replace with competent people
