So 20s penalty at least

Few years ago max lost pole because he admitted in an interview he didn’t slow down for yellow

Not slowing for yellows is an offence. Choosing not to overtake another car is not an offence.

Hitting another car is however

I don't see what Max should be punished for here. He slowed to let Lewis pass. Lewis doesn’t have to hang in his gearbox if he doesn’t want to pass, he could also have driven behind him on the left. The only one who should be punished here is Lewis because he drove Max into the car.

And unfotunatley i have to say penalties here or there, money talks in F1, its easier to pay (specially if you have a lot of it Merc) than to recive a penalty, only reprimad and fine. The rest gets grid penalties.. what more can i say

He didn't ignore a yellow, it was gone when he got there. He got a reprimand for Mazepin.

Verstappen improved his time through double yellows.

That’s what I’m saying. 20s for Lewis

Don’t want to pass? Fine. Hit him? Nope

Yep there was enough space on the left so he could have past there easily, but why did he slow down behind him and hit him?

Because he just wanted the DRS for the next one.

which brings up another penalty that went good for Lewis. 2017 Azerbaijan GP. Vettel collided on him and had a 10 seconds stop and go (or the aforementioned 20 seconds) penalty
more inconsistency simply because the car under investigation is a Mercedes

And imho that should be taken into account. There is no designated spot to give places back so max didn’t do anything wrong

plus if he's gonna use the DRS argument, you could see Lewis had an upper hand over Max, as his tires were in better condition and could pass it and gain a good gap

So they are trying to create facts to have (even more) advantage over Red Bull or they're afraid to lose

Agreed, it's pretty clearly both drivers wanted to be just behind going into the DRS detection zone. Verstappen was looking in his mirrors to time hitting the gas just as Hamilton flew by. And Hamilton clearly wanted to dive bomb Verstappen right after the DRS detection zone. Both of those things are well within their right to do.

What I don't get is why Hamilton isn't even being investigated for the contact? Verstappen certainly didn't initiate the contact. Aside from the DRS gamesmanship by both drivers, initiating contact with a rival should be a slam dunk investigation/penalty no?

Both drivers are being investigated for the collision.

Lewis is summoned too but knowing his luck Red Bull probably will be forced to pay the damage to sir #blessed car

I don't know if this is relevant, but in Max's onboard after his downshifts you can hear the revs fall rapidly.
So it sounded like he was full on the brakes at that time which Lewis maybe mentioned as "breakcheck" but this could also be a sync issue between audio and video.
From the outside it doesn't look like any tire was standing before the impact.

plus today Lewis had a good fair share of luck on his side, he was bashed several times like he was in a touring car race and got only a small damage on the front wing

I am honestly relieved to read that the collision was a misunderstanding (I'll call it like that for now), rather than some mischievous action. I was watching without sound and really thought it was a brake check.

Well, let's enjoy the mind games and cat and mouse. This stuff is just batchit insane. 1989 has got nothing on this season, and I'm weighing my words here :8:

I was wondering about this too. But when watching the onboard from Hamilton's car, they're roughly going the same speed right before the contact. In order for the brake check theory to hold, Verstappen would need to have decelerated right before contact. If anything, Hamilton appears to accelerate right before the contact. I think he just flat out botched the whole move.

Lewis is apparently admitting that he chose to stay behind Max because of the DRS activation. So he knew what Max was doing and that, therefore, he knew that Max was not attempting to brake test him.
