I love the look of it. Very flowing and high speed. Could be a real challenge if there is limited run off (any recent photos of the circuit?).

Not expecting overtaking to be easy. Maybe the first and last corners. DRS through those kinks may be a little scary. Hopefully no airplane crashes.

Or Tamburello at Imola?

It is pretty crazy that this track is able to get an FIA Grade 1 license with blind 150 mph corners with no run off

$$$$$$$$$$$

Without Max we wouldnt be at Zandvoort either. And I'm fairly sure I can design something that resembles a racetrack in my local area and if I where to pay enough I would be hosting the next Dutch GP.

Yes. Why the heck not? Old Tamburello with SAFER or Techpro or both wouldn't give you a bruise.

If they bring old Tamburello back it'll be an almost 2km long flatout sector, quite a thrill

I'm honestly interested in how the safety assessment is done technically speaking. There has to be angle/energy considerations for these sort of things.

But then again, perhaps they cannot specify it too tightly in the regulations, because there are probably thousands of circuits/corners that would not comply and prevent classic venues from being on the calendar. They probably compromise based on criteria that are far from purely technical, for old tracks (based on history/terrain) but also for new venues (based on $$$$)

They using the SAFER barrier instead of massive runoffs. It's an interesting direction.

I was wondering the other way; what if the top of the Eau Rouge/Radillion complex had a concrete wall instead of tyres; would Hubert's F2 car have impacted the wall and slid down it, instead of spinning back into the firing line? I'm not sure how tec-pro does, as I've seen cars bury under it but also spin back away from it (both in Sochi, usually!).

with less run off, there's more chance of Masi calling a red flag to get a standing start

With one lap left.

fortunately it'll be a night race, so they can drop red flags during the whole night as they wish

That's the correct choice for shallow high-speed impacts, especially in today's strong cockpits. Much better than burying in some tyres/Tecpro and stop dead, or get spat back on track with zero momentum relative to oncoming traffic.

I hope this works. I'm glad the late years they've been holding back from creating boring carparks where there every sense of speed is lost to miles of flat tarmac, far away from any reference point. Get those barriers as close as safely possible to the track, please.

There will be at least one red flag.

Caused by Lewis Hamilton, but punting Verstappen at the start.

Gets a 10-second penalty, is able to repair the car in the pits.

Fights from the back, wins the race.

Croft has a orgasm on live television.

Lewis celebrates with a pride flag.

Everyone bows to him.

He is blessed.

Some photos of the circuit.

https://www.racefans.net/2021/12/02/fir ... x-weekend/

So there are some corners where the barrier is right next to the circuit. Others where there is a bit more run off. Seems like a decent mix. Hopefully it will feel more like Baku/Singapore, rather than Sochi/Valencia.

track gives a good tunnel vision sensation. Might increase the sense of speed through corners

the only worry is catchfencing, if it doesn't happens in F1, it will in F2

It's either catchfencing or someone's best Ascari impression, so...

I would start daydreaming and loose sense of what corner would come next, it all seems the same.
