Baku 2021 was a F1 version of green-white-checker which only came along with the Liberty ownership. It basically cost Hamilton 18 points. In 71 years of F1 history no race red-flagged with 3 laps remaining was restarted. This gimmick is all on Liberty Group.
In 1988 Prost scored more points than Senna, but the rule was that only the 11 best results counted so Senna was crowned champion. Weird? Yes. Undeserved? You might think that. But that was the rule at that time so argue all you want but it´s not going to help.
If the rule is now to red flag and restart the race, even with only 2 laps to go, then that is what counts.
It doesn't change the main point though, Liberty plays with a different set of rules and Hamilton lost 18 points compared to what would have happened under FOCA and their later iterations.
