Baku is just a bunch of 90 degree corners and straights, with some narrow section that's a dolly for F1 drivers. The only thing that makes Baku "exciting" is safety cars or a Michael Masi standing start special.

Yeah I never meant that Baku was more technical, it does not even compare to COTA. Driving the first sector on sims is exciting. Just the scenery and run-off completely offset that in my eyes as a viewer. It's an old-school view but I just can't get excited for fast interesting corners between painted lines on tarmac, and man I hate the "spikey" hairpins that new Tilkedromes love so much, because God forbid you draw a nice flowing radius corner. :p

Things happen at Baku, boredom happens at COTA.

one thing that is happening year by year is the track sinking, how long until it shows huge cracks on the tarmac?

I'd make that turn 12 to 19 one long sweeping one like.......oh dear....Sochi. But with Zandvoort levels of banking. And there it is, the ROVAL!

I will try some positivity: Paul-Ricard is a whole lot worse as a track, and it delivered a real thriller race this year.

It's 2021, stuff be happening regardless

Turn left at t1, go straight with a small left corner and you're suddenly reached t11

it's called teleport, might create some monstrosities like a car that is an Alpine tub, the front of a Ferrari, the rear of a Haas and a Mercedes engine

I'm happy I'm not the only one who thinks COTA is rather boring.

Boring race, Mercedes 1-2, it's been a while. Max will retire.

We used to complain that most of the new circuits were flat, with no interesting elevation. Then we finally get a circuit with some elevation, and the best thing they could come up with is a hairpin at the top of a steep hill. It's a really underwhelming track. Maybe it wouldn't feel quite so bad if there was more grass and gravel lining the circuit, because every single corner is incredibly forgiving if you make an error. Barely any time loss at all.

I read that some parts of the track surface aren't in the best condition. Hopefully that + a hot day will create tyre wear and unpredictability. Or a little bit of rain again...

Someone should make a mod in Assetto Corsa, where all tarmac is replaced with grass and the size of a run off area is reduced by 70% (also mods for Abu Dhabi and Paul Ricard, plz). Although I quite understand that in Texas you would need quite a lot effort to keep grass green and alive :p
