Only bad luck can deny Bottas' win now.
EDIT: Or a spin.

Er, that was your choice to stay out, chief.

so it was a better gamble for Hamilton to stay out and risking a puncture?

he had some moments with real lack of rear grip with new tires

Ocon lost 4 seconds on the final lap, on old tyres. Lewis could have slipped to 7th, or the Mercedes might have been good enough to look after its tyres and finish 3rd. We'll never know, but he was beginning to lose time before he pitted. Probably the right call to pit.

Well this is why Ocon lost that time... that tyre is dead

oddly enough new inter tires weren't working properly either. He was quite pissed calling the radio saying there was graining

he lost big time trying to sort this situation. Meanwhile the old tires were bad but he knows how to manage but again if a puncture happened there it would be a major blow on his chances

Probably one of his worst race weekends of the year, and that's saying something. He was no where in qualifying and the race, outpaced by Schumacher by over a second a lap in many stages of the race. And then that dodgy driving when getting lapped. He looks completely out of place out there. :slaphead:

Another interesting Grand Prix this year in terms of strategy with some good on track actions too (like Checo vs Lewis battle)

Remember when it didn't rain in F1?

This has to be the season with the most wet races in about 15 years or more :8:

Well, it hasn't been that much really. Hungary had 500 meters of wet racing before the red flag, Spa had 0 meters of wet racing, and Sochi about 5 laps of wet racing. That leaves only Imola and Istanbul.

But have to admit it feels like Max Mosley's old Rainkiller 3000™ has started to malfunction this year.

Well if you count it as "Events where rain has fallen" that's 5 and the season isn't don.....well ok we're off to the middle east so you can pretty much call it I guess

Still though, not bad, not bad

(I always did wonder how much rain fell during the original dates of the 2020 season calender pre-covid, but CBA doing the legwork :P )

Looks like the weather forecast I saw initially was more right than not. ;)

Another race, another fuck up by Lewis while Max continues damage limitation and scoring max points. Great to see. :flag:

Well done on Bottas winning and proving all the earlier comments wrong. For once.

Indeed, I thought his motivation and selfconfidence were too far gone to still be able to have an error free race, but he proved me wrong. He always has his 2 or 3 races in a season where he´s unbeatable.

I like this 2021 season. More than half of the races so far were actually exciting, and I hope the battle for the title lasts till the end. I don´t like Hamilton, but if he wins it after a year long battle until the very end, I am more at peace with it than after only having to beat his own teammate.

I fear that FIA and Liberty could be behind this to push more rounds outside Europe and more where it doesn't rain so much often (middle east)

then F1 goes to America 3 times per year and there the Rainkiller 3000™ works like clockwork
