I'm more excited by the fact that we'll have six F2 and F3 races to look forward to this weekend.

The only time we'll have F2 and F3 in the same race weekend this year, is in the shittiest of the shittiest circuits...

Luckily current forecast says 100% chance of rain for Saturday. But after Spa we know that unless it's just a drizzle, they do just 1 lap under SC and call it a race. So whether it's dry or wet, the result is shit.

This track has a better chance of water being cleared by cars and wind hopefully? We've had a good wet race at Turkey's Tilkedrome last year. Spa is a very humid and boxed in between trees and hills.

The lower formulas are OK on this track. A bit oversized for F3, but F2 is generally decent (and crashy).

Thought we go to St. Petersburg? Was that not next year?

I read this and the airfield track in Florida came up to my mind.

I liked more when St. Petersburg was called Leningrad

They should do a street race at Moscow!!

The ban on Russia in global sports somehow doesn't affect Formula 1 (which has World Championship status after all). So this will be a Russian Grand Prix, not RFU GP and national flags will be presented at the track?

No action on Saturday for sure. While at Spa ~5mm of rain was enough to cancel the events, now we're getting 50mm. Sucks for F2 and F3.

It wasn't the rain that created the Spa farce, it was fog and standing water

given how Sochi Olympic Park is a huge open space at the shores, standing water will not be a problem

I remember hearing that CAS sentenced would impact the GP as well.

Checking the F1 website, the Russian Grand Prix name stands, but there is a blank spot where the Russian flag was supposed to be.

Well, Russian is a demonym, not a country. If it was to be named "Grand Prix of Russia", then they would probably have been forced to change it.

Doesn't VTB stand for Valterri Bottas GP?

Properly functioning drainage is still a curiosity for a lot of Russian settlements.

It suits the abbreviation conveniently but in reality it's only a name of a high-tier bank.

Leclerc will get a new engine that Ferrari firstly planned to install for Turkish GP, so it's a 20th place on the grid for Charles. This engine should give additional 10-15 HP in comparison to the three previous specs that were used on Leclerc car.

Do you consider Sochi a "settlement"? :)

You can take the girl out of the village, but you can't take the village out of the girl. The mindset of local population vastly varies from urban Russia. Yes, the city was scrubbed clean on the eve of the Olympics but after that it is a downward spiral of infrastructure's deterioration.
