i think i read masi say something about a monday race requiring agreement from the fia, fom, and the drivers. since they never agree on anything he probably deemed it impossible

Not just that, there's the people who run the circuit, who he has no control over, need to be there to man ticket stalls, marshall corners, food stall operators, security guards, that's 100's maybe 1000's of people who'd need to take a Monday off. Then there's the 1000 of TV personnel, camera operators, producers, riggers, electricians who need to broadcast it, who are probably obliged to pack all their shit up Sunday night.

People who think we should have had a Monday race are being selfish, not thinking about the bigger picture.

I'd say send the bill for Liberty to pay as they're pratically sucking cocks to have a 23 race schedule

I don't understand why they didn't run behind the safety car for a long time. They've done this before, I remember Fuji 2007 had a lot of laps behind the safety car at the start. Get the drivers used to conditions and maybe create a dry line. And the spectators at least see something, even if they never really go racing. Much better than what they did yesterday

I think the difference here is that, although the cars would definitely have sucked a lot of the standing water up off of the track, the trees here would have ensured that it would just hang around as spray in all the places they don't want it to. Fuji didn't suffer from this sort of problem.

I think it's because they've seen it happen with other series and don't understand that there are different logistics at play.

When there is a certain level of rain, they aren't going to race. They aren't going to make lots of laps under SC either, because Bianchi.

Yes, they could've moved the race forward. Unfortunately we live in an era where Broadcasting is more important than the sport it broadcasts. What happened was the exact result of the state things are in with F1.

Better to just be disappointed, and move on.

Last British driver to stand on a podium with Williams was Damon Hill at Suzuka in 1996 :8:

There wasn't nearly as much water in 1998 at the start. Formation lap at 29:45

Later it got worse (when Michael and Fisichella crashed), which are the conditions people have been remembering and comparing to 2021. But if we had the same conditions as 1998 we'd probably have had a rolling start after a few safety car laps.

Water on the track surface wasn't the problem. Biggest problem was the spray, which these current cars generate a shitload more of.

Other drivers were complaining the tyres were cold running around under SC.

That's what I meant, spray was worse in 2021 behind safety car, than 1998 formation lap at formation lap free running.
