Maybe drivers waited until they got on track again to definitely call the slicks

I thought it was strange that the pit lane was even open. I think that in GT, pits are closed during formation lap, and you have to take the proper race start before you're allowed to pit. Assumed it was the same in F1 but the rules are different.

What fucked Hamilton even further is that he was alone on the grid, so they released the others as soon as he reached turn 1. If there was a Haas behind, it would have taken a little longer before the pit goes green, maybe giving him a couple positions.

If Alonso rolled over, Lewis would have caught them and gotten by most likely

And if he literally rolled over, it would've been a red flag and restart, so most likely a Hamilton win

considering Alonso past he's quite prone to roll over

we gotta consider also that Hungary is still quite a difficult track to pass, considering that you must be very very quicker than the car in front to pass (or wait for him to make an unforced mistake)

Interesting take from Alonso here. He played his effort a bit down saying he thinks Hamilton did some small mistakes approaching the straight and because of that he was able to keep that battle longer.

So Hamilton admitted he's dealing with long covid symptoms. Explains why he was so finished at the end of the race. Gotta give him credit for going all out the whole race, but that could very well be why he couldn't get around Alonso. He must have been utterly exhausted.

I just put that down to him being a primadonna, I've never heard someone whinge so much in a race before

at least it wasn't some sort of mysterious sideways crash caused by the wind during a testing session

I pile crap on him, am very sad to see him like this, but this does not bode well for Ricciardo in my opinion. He is completely shot.

His only hope is the 2022 cars being more to his liking, it's almost like F1 cars have become like MotoGP bikes where it great riders just never are able to gel with the style of a bike

As much as you post about Ricciardo disappointing you I hope for your mental health he leaves the sport soon.

I don't really know what that video shows besides someone that's understandably bummed out about how their race went. Let's find Max's post race video, if he's looking deflated surely his career is fucked too.

Oscar seems like a nice kid but who knows what he'll be like as a personality in F1. I like Dan not because he's Aussie or because he's the best but because he's Dan (I'm a Carlos fan for the same reason), and I hope he stays in F1 as long as he can, so long as he's not operating at Mark Webber 2013 levels. The sport needs personalities like him.

I wonder how many people switched off Hewitt and Rafter as soon as they dropped out of the top 100 - look at the knobs we have representing the country in men's tennis now. Outright success isn't everything, and I personally hate 'fans' that sledge their own team as soon as they hit a bad stretch.

I feel very sorry for Daniel, his victories were almost always great races and he made it enjoyable even on podiums

Sure. Just was able to get back in the car within a week of having it but now is falling down nine months later.

I'm quite sure his doctor wouldn't let him drive with a risk of getting serious heart and lung damage or infections like pneumonia or myocarditis.

This.

What's so funny about someone having serious health condition? :o

One thought I had - if you are allowed to change tyres under the red flag, why did nobody put on slicks during the red flag, and then line up on the grid and go straight into the lead? Was everybody being too conservative, or is there a rule that I'm missing?
Giovinazzi was on mediums before the red flag, he changed the intermediates on the first start. So I´m completely baffled why he also was on intermediates again for the restart. He should have been leading the race after Hamilton pitted. Teams are just too conservative sometimes, could have been an alfa win or podium

There's nothing funny about having a serious health condition.

However, there's a lot of things funny about moron's calling bullshit on his serious health condition only to be completely wrong    then spew out the worst attempt at deflection I've ever seen

I mean, I moved more into the hating Hamilton camp, especially lately, but I can't be associated with some of the attitudes of the people who've already pitched tents there.

Since you are the smartest person in this forum, I assume you don't consider me as a moron. Since I didn't call his health condition claim bullshit but questioned if his doctor would clear him to race under illness. Maybe they found it out just now, you know.

If it's true, I'm quite sure his insurance company will send their own doctors to evaluate their risks.

Long covid is at least here called dangerous, so if Hamilton really is suffering from it, this might significantly change his season.

Or you know, he might have just made it up to get attention.

Mentioning that it's a possibility doesn't mean it's my point of view.

I was a bit disappointed that the Lewis/Max battle didn't happen. With Max having all incentives to try to block Hamilton's progression with a damaged car. It's also unfortunate the pit exit was just a bit too far for a late braking challenge into turn 1.

I really don't think Max would do anything deliberate. Aggressive as he is, it doesn't suit the character so far. But there's a sweet spot mindset where even without doing anything malicious, you just give zero fucks about the outcome, and this was a perfect occasion for it to unfold and the internet to literally explode

I'm going to go waaaaayyyyyy out on a limb here and assume that one of the most prominent sportspeople in the world might not need to make things up to get attention.
