Great stuff by Ocon. Withstood pressure the whole race. But oh look, the team that Ricciardo abruptly abandoned wins while he finishes behind both Williams and Kimi who had a ten second penalty.......it takes time guys, it takes time.

Useless?? He fucking aced for Lewis.

Must've been feeling that contract extension slipping out of his grasp. Today's clutch performance ought to seal the ink for him though.

No doubt the accident benefited Mercedes and Hamilton significantly, but you're irredeemably cynical if you think Bottas did that on purpose.

His mistake for sure but you all are ruthless on Bottas. Wet start, no room, that shit isn’t easy.

It´s not like Norris chopped in front of him and then braked. Bottas had plenty of time to react

He locked up. He didn’t flat out DRIVE into the back of Lando.

Yea, but everyone around him started to slow down for T1 well before him. He was just too ambitious going into T1 and braked too late. Gross misjudgment on his part.

Yeah, you'd hit Verstappen, not Norris...

To be honest it was pretty classy of Alonso to stay on the sidelines while Ocon was celebrating with his team, and wait to congratulate him.

Alonso changed so much after leaving F1 last time.
He is more of a team worker right now, before he want all the spot light on him.

This is brilliant stuff from Alonso

Very few drivers can effectively go toe-to-toe with Hamilton, but if anyone can do it of course it had to be a 40 year old Alonso on 20+ laps older tires. From a fan perspective, that was some of the most enthralling action we've had all season.

Alonso's defending was absolutely brilliant and so intelligent. There was one moment where he went slightly deep into the first corner, but managed to make the apex and absolutely park it there so Lewis couldn't cut underneath him. The positioning on turn two as well... He never ran Lewis off the road, but placed the car where Lewis wasn't going to take that risk.

I've never seen a race like that, and probably never will again

You could say Ocon was lucky today at the start shenanigans, but it wasn't luck to lead nearly 70 laps.

Only thing to have made today's race better would've been if we had some wheel-to-wheel action between Ocon and Vettel, but they were just so closely matched today. I mean they were doing lap times within a tenth of each other (on laps when Vettel didn't have DRS), and had almost identical tire life. Unfortunately with this track you need to be significantly faster than the car ahead to be able to pull off a relatively risk-free pass. But credit to Ocon, he soaked up the pressure brilliantly and didn't make any mistakes. Aston Martin will definitely be ruing that slow pitstop as that extra 0.5s cost Vettel track position in hindsight.

But because of his slow start, Verstappen was already out of his reach. Unless you think smart and let other cars lose control.

Did you learn nothing from gaming?

I can totally see Toto and Lewis waving 2022 contract in front of a simulation rig where Bottas practiced every imaginable situation how to get both Red Bulls out in first corner. Hour after hour, day and night, so he became the perfect Manchurian candidate when it counted.

Too bad they don't practice their strategies as much.

Vettel called to the stewards because he kept that t-shirt on for the pre-race anthem.

He doesn't care what they might punish him with

Yeah it was absolutely fantastic. A defensive masterclass. The way he ran Lewis wide in the middle of turn 2 - rather than the exit - was perfect. That's how you defend a position without running someone off the track.
