Another Verstappen-snoozer coming? At least three F3 races should provide some action.

the only advantage Hamilton can have is playing the adverse weather on his side so perhaps FIA is turning Rainkiller 3000 for this weekend to give Mercedes an unexpected win

Not sure we're going to see much difference from Pirelli bringing one step softer compounds, unless the temperatures really soar, as most teams will be on a similar strategy. Can only hope a bit of rain mixes things up a bit. Otherwise expecting it to be largely the same field spread as last weekend.

Be interesting to see if Ricciardo will be as woeful as he was last weekend and if Gasly can be up the pointy end despite not having the race experience last week.

You mean have a random power failure? Give him crap where he deserves it, but also be fair when there are things out of his control.

Being at one stage a second slower than his teammate in qualifying. That's one. Inability to overtake Kimi after his power failure was fixed, while Leclerc in his Ferrari could, despite falling WAY to the back whilst running the same tyres? Yeah that's another. Not knowing WHY he was almost a second slower than Norris??? That's a HUGE one.

I love Dan, but do people seriously think he is just going to wake up one day and suddenly be "comfortable" in the car beating Norris, despite by all accounts McLaren bending over backwards to help him? If anything he is going backwards.

Dan is mystery to me. Being on the back foot because of a new car or other unknown team/car issues is one thing, but where did the flamboyance go? The bold moves. That's a personal trait that shouldn't leave. He used to be the best man on the grid on brakes, and turn 3 would've been a perfect opportunity to show that (see Leclerc and Perez' moves), but nothing. He slipped into a rare anonymity ever since he left RedBull.

tire strategy should be the two softest and the hardest to give a bit of scramble

lmao you can't be serious?

It's not like Max is running away with the championship. Still a long way to go.

Are they running the same array of tire compounds as last week?

I'd take 10 boring races in a row this season if all of them are won by a car that isn't a Mercedes

This is what's wrong with F1 fandom

You get years like last years (one of the craziest seasons I've ever witnessed even if there wasn't a championship fight) or 2011/2013 (until the summer break, anyway) being called dull and years like 2006/7/8 being called exciting simply because there is a title fight or not regardless of the quality of the individual races.

I guess people are too invested in team/driver loyalty, or more likely around here, team/driver hatred than they are wanting to see close, exciting racing.

It's the entertainment level of each individual race that matters, the title race can go get screwed as far as I'm concerned.
If you're lucky enough to have an exciting race won by a driver or team you like, well that's the icing on the cake for me, but it's not the basis of the entire cake at all.

Championship battle<Individual race excitment
