I openly admit that I like spectacular smashes as long as the drivers walk away. Hell, half of the time I am internally screaming at the TV during the race for someone to bin it it the wall (strangely I find those NASCAR wrecks just sooooo fucking boring).

So yes, I am hoping like hell we have a Mauricio Gulgimien flip in the first corner.

As an aside, the way I found this forum was combing through the internet looking for crash vids. I even want the V10's back and the Halo to go. So yes, I am a heathen.

This is a good test track. If I drive a scary rapid race car for the first time, this is where I would want to do it.

Should it have grandstands and innocent civilians spectating on track and on TV? Hell fucking no.

I don't get the forum though. On more challenging tracks, people fear the risk. This track is hated, yet it's a prime example that excitement comes with the corollary of danger. Admit it: you aren't all here for driving skill only, because this track requires a lot more skill than Baku for example. But it's a chore to watch in comparison. Even side by side racing makes little sense here.

A track where a mistake is punished requires a lot more skill, that's a fact. Where the consequence of a misjudged apex can mean a broken wheel or front wing as opposed to just driving over funky-coloured asphalt.

till today I look forward someone causing that crash that Maldonado caused to Señor Oops back in Bahrain 2014. A nice flip at slow speed that caused mayhem afterwards

We had that in Bahrain (or Sakhir, whatever) last year, with Stroll.

Ok, this layout looks way more fun than the actual one

Just skip the chicane and run it backwards. As there are runoffs everywhere, runoffs shouldn't be an issue.

About the only part I like on this track is the final 2 corners, which do well to generate flippers in lower series...

Aside from that, trash it

They should just bypass from 11 into the front straight, and get rid of the chicane in the middle of Mistral.

This track isn't even worth coming up with comedy solutions for eg. ramps and fire pits. It's beyond saving

I just don't understand why they don't use the straight. After all we just came off that almost 2km long straight in Baku. The Signes turn isn't what it once was, there is an acre of run off.

It is so strange because the track map would suggest that it should be a good track for action, instead its Abu Dhabi levels of shit in pretty much all classes.

Vettel in the barrier, gravel would have prevented that happening. Just saying Paul Ricard, your tarmac did nothing to slow that car down

More financial bitching from Mercedes to the FIA because the sausage kerbs are damaging the car. "You can't just tell us not to go wide"

Oh for fucks sake. That Mercedes Radio is one of the chief reasons modern F1 pisses me off. That curb that our driver went wide on damaged our car.....get rid of it! Unacceptable. Well, don't run off the bloody track!

Something tells me the addition of teams to FIA radio to the coverage this year is one of the worst innovations FOM could've brought us

It won't be insightful, it'll just show all teams pretending to care about safety for their own advantage

Max has damaged his car on a kerb too, expect horner to appear on sky within 10 mins to moan about it.... :whistling:

All the constant camera zooms looking at the curbs doesn't help either.

just let them race alone in F1 and create another championship from scratch

well, they did that in Formula Truck and the series was folded after 3 races

Can you imagine what these conversations would be like if they did have gravel here!?

Vettel wouldn't have hit the barrier if there had been gravel there.
