A convenient penalty allowed Stroll to finish ahead of Perez even though the latter finished ahead. Hamilton won an easy one.

I could swear last year's race was cancelled. Or it was so boring that there was basically no difference.
Good to see both F3 and Alpine as support categories, though

I remember absolutely nothing about this race. Is this Mandela effect? Because I remember every other race from last season.

Apparently it did happen though.

this is one of those races where Mercedes can only display their sponsors on the start, pit stops and finish/podium, because they got so much ahead that the camera stays with the midfield

Hopefully not having pre-season testing here can help a bit, to get a more competitive race.

I don't think so, though. Fuck this track.

Yeah, this track isn't even fun to drive in iRacing. Somehow both miserable AND boring.

they reprofiled one of the corners but that is more like polishing a turd

perhaps if they put PJ1 on the apex that could bring a bit of funny moments

If they only got rid of the last chicane...

...as if the races were any better pre-07.

The only reason this race is ok, is because Barcelona is so close.
Great city.

Rain moving in on Monday and Tuesday.

I share this feeling. Just sadness overall. The same way Brand Hatch or Imola makes you happy, this track makes you sad, despite being technical.

The early 2000s changes haven't fixed racing, and made the track worse to drive by killing any sort of flow it had before. The chicane complex is a slow-death abomination to go through. The tight hairpin is butt-ugly and I sigh at the wheel every time I'm heading to it. We will see if this year's reprofiling makes it any better.

My only expectation from this event is PLEASE a Max win with Hamilton on the podium. At least keep the championship rolling.

Best outcome would be Verstappen and Hamilton tangle in the first corner and both are out, have a fight in the graveltrap. Then a surprise winner like Norris or something like that

It's funny, this track is usually an attrition fest in MotoGP classes due to the long sweeping corners really wearing out the tires and riders. But in F1 terms it's an absolute boredom nightmare. The stupid chicane before New Holland was added so cars could actually gain traction out of the final corner and get a slipstream on the finish straight. It looked naive on paper and hasn't worked in reality at all.

Run the race at Motorland Aragon. Mix it up a bit.

The only thing I can remember of this race: Vettel had a good drive against all the odds
