That's still the fastest car.

Max should have kept the position as Lulu went wide in that corner four times and Max just once.

when you have the FIA on your side your car is always the fastest

and I dunno if it was Hamilton behind he would give the position after passing. They just go ahead

FIA says no, do it immediately

Their inconsistency over turn 4 definitely had a hand in the race

It was legal then not legal and they seemingly changed that DURING THE RACE, which is farcicle

Overtaking someone with 4 wheels off has always been amore blatant offense than gaining time (potentially) while alone.

In a similar occurence, the line that Max took at Austin to pass Kimi probably gains less than a tenth (even lose time maybe) and would barely be looked at by the stewards, but when it allows you to pass it got penalized immediately.

Perez impressed me today, gonna be interesting to see what he can do when he gets up to speed.

Regardless of the shenanigans, let me say this: this season is ON. Let's hope this continues because we're in for a fucking classic.

Is this the first race won by an active racing driver with a knighthood?

Or Max would have made more of an effort to stay on track, slowed a bit more and tried fighting off Hamilton's better exit.

But it feels weird as Hamilton had used that same piece of track a lot during the race

Yeah but once it was enforced, Hamilton stopped doing it.

This would have solved Hamilton going wide there so many times and gaining an advantage and this giving away position for victory. We need natural track limits.

Yes of course, I wasn't really meaning the overtake with that, more the times Red Bull protested on the radio and suddenly the FIA said running outside T4 would be a black/white flag issue despite the fact they said it was only a policing matter in qualifying.

Automate track limits with sensors and penalise anyone who gets pinged. No second or third chances. Maybe stick a penalty zone somewhere on track (like Formula E's attack zone) and make them go through it within 3 laps. Surely it can't be that hard?

Technically no. Jackie Stewart received OBE in 1972 but that didn't enitled him to be called Sir (which I guess is what you mean?) :p

That was an awkward podium, what's with the lack of celebrations?

I'll confess it guys: at some point in the race I was rooting for Lewis not to lose too much time in traffic just so the race to the second pit stop can remain close. Rooting for Hamilton! The infamy.

Shame to have the track limits controversy (just put grass or gravel in and there's no issue). Great race, though. How often do we get a battle for the win in the closing laps?

I was hoping Hamilton would stop again, they should stop creating false hopes on the fans, this is a crime

In hindsight, that was bit of a poor choice by Verstappen where he let Hamilton by at the start of the back straight. If he had maybe waited until T13 and let Hamilton pass him on the inside, that would've delayed Hamilton from getting on the power allowing Verstappen to close him to him before the DRS detection point and then slingshot past him into T1.

Don't forget the FIA bullshit rule that you're not allowed to repass anyone for 2 corners after you've let them by

Whether they actually would enforce that, or it was a bullshit thing created to strip a win from Lewis and Mclaren at the height of the FIA/Mclaren fued, who knows.

If that was Bottas leading probably yeah, but you have to admit Lewis is pretty amazing at tyre management.

Also Vettel: lol. It's getting sad now.
