Could Max have stayed ahead and argue the case, hoping to make 5.1 seconds ahead in case of penalty?

It's really amazing how Hamilton can grab some wins that doesn't seem to be on his hand.

This. Nobody can say they didn't earn this win. Hopefully we get at least another few races like this before they sort the car out and it gets boring again.

Excellent race indeed. Dunno if San Marino will be any good though.

Mercedes always seem to have a little extra PU/battery grunt in reserve when they need it.

FIA says no, do it immediately

Their inconsistency over turn 4 definitely had a hand in the race

It was legal then not legal and they seemingly changed that DURING THE RACE, which is farcicle

I'm sure Hamilton will call this win "his most difficult" yet. Hopefully Max makes it a proper battle this year. Using Bottas as road block seems improbable if Mercedes doesn't have the speed advantage.

Another reason to ditch the astro turf madness. Talking about track limits is not what motor racing should be about.

Yeah the track limits stuff is leaving a bit of a sour taste in the mouth. I don't know why it's so hard to just say the white lines are the limits, full stop

That's still the fastest car.

Max should have kept the position as Lulu went wide in that corner four times and Max just once.

I thought Max could've argued it because when I saw it live from his onboard I thought he went wide to give Hamilton a safe berth as he wouldn't known how close he was on the inside, and could've stayed inside track limits if needed. Plus the backmarker was there too, so I thought Max was just being cautious. But understandably Red Bull didn't want to take a chance.

With grass and gravel there, Max would have been compromised and slowed. Hamilton could have been back past.

Or Max would have made more of an effort to stay on track, slowed a bit more and tried fighting off Hamilton's better exit.

But it feels weird as Hamilton had used that same piece of track a lot during the race

Max did it while overtaking though, which has never been legal (or at least since Hockenheim 2021, Vettel on Button)

But yeah, Gravel trap would sort all that out

Luckily next race is at Imola. Natural track limits there.
