plus the fact of doing sprint races later than the usual qualifying time slot makes very appeasing for american audiences that have shorter attention span (plus a 30 minute race can give the chance for at least 2 ad breaks)

I am absolutely sick to the back fucking teeth with the same members scrapping, arguing, and slinging insults. This place has been so civil for so long but I guess we can't have a nice thing.

Quit it. For the love of god just be fucking nice to each other. It's not difficult, just don't attack each other or say stupid things. I've felt so miserable reading this thread specifically over the last few months and really sap any desire I have to run this place.

There will be no more warnings or messages on this. If you act up, you will be permanently banned and not welcome back.

Now, back on topic please and thank you.

Oh well, I guess this place is heading for the exit door then. It is what it is. A lot of things have changed since 2008 for sure.

Might as well not post anything outside of race threads on weekends and take the whole off-season off.

Because I don't want a load of fighting? Oh no, what a terrible thing.

Really though: please, back on topic.

Well, since my post about Verstappen replacing Hamilton at Mercedes got deleted I'm not sure I can post anything in this thread anymore. It doesn't seem like worth the effort either. I'm unsure what your definition of "Random" is either. Peace out.

one thing that has been bothering teams is the oversized schedule

they try to drive costs down, but cannot work the over exhaustion of teams travelling for almost half the year

That was caught up in some tidying up. It wasn't because that post itself was not suitable. If you wish to go, then do. I'm not pushing you, I've not warned you, I'm not asking you to. I'll be sorry to see you go.

Now, PLEASE, back on topic.

The schedule next season is crazy; I don't blame the teams at all for not being happy with it.

On a slightly related note: I wonder if Brundle saw this coming and that's why he's missing a few races a season now. Maybe he has a maximum number of races he covers written into his contract.

He will definitely always be loyal to the Silverstone Classic and Goodwood revival and any of the classic races where he can get behind the wheel, but also he always used to take Hungary off anyway for a family holiday and, you know, because it usually sucked

But he's also in his 60s now so will probably be easing up eventually

Sadly that means more from Dour Di Resta, Empty Vessel Davidson and *shudders* Self promoting Rosberg on the commentary.

Sky should just promote Button to permenant co-comms and be done with it

what kills the deal is also the amount of races condensed in 3 week periods, even in the European tour which is theoretically nearby but still, a lot of work to be done and oversaturation in which decreases the value of the races

I hate how much I like Button now because I hated him when he first got into F1. He's a great commentator and really should replace Croft.

Can we bring back Murray?

I'm afraid I've got some bad news.

----------------------

I've seen in a couple of places before that Brundle has a 16-race limit in his contract, which presumably came in after his ticker stopped tocking properly.

----------------------

Imola is now on the calendar until 2025.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Although, if you're a dab hand at necromancy...

Croft was okay until like 2019 when he frequently started making several silly jokes on air during each GP. It's like someone in the Sky front office told him to sound more cool or whatever - appeasing the mythical new fanbase? Brundle always kept it frank and didn't get sucked into the nonsense.

Di Resta is terrible. He makes one obvious error that DQ him from being a regular TV commentator - he tries to talk all the time. Not even two seconds of taking a break. I've actually listened to sporting events on radio in my lifetime and it's very easy to spot such an obvious flaw in live commentary. Button isn't Brundle but he's a lot better than Di Resta.

Brundle is 63yo. I suppose he's easing off the schedule to be with his family more often.

Just make sure it's Murray you bring back and not, say, that Austrian fellow with the moustache.

They should call Davide Valsechi back. He sounds like Jackie Stewart, although without Jim McKay on his side doing the classic ABC Indy 500
