A bit redundant to black flag someone who is stuck in the gravel with their engine off.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

True, not a black flag. :innocent:

Exactly. Black flags are for deliberate unsportsmanship collisions, not mistakes while racing in good faith (which every collision in 2021 was). Thanks for making my point for me.

Apparently Hamilton has unfollowed F1 on Instagram. The plot thickens!

Just wondering how chaotic would be a sudden retirement from Lewis at this point

I think there might be a few drivers checking their contracts very very carefully then.

I think it would look bad for Hamilton to quit after that. I sympathize with him to an extent, but if he just quits now it will look like a tantum/sour grapes situation.

That being said, I can also see why he'd want to be done. Nothing left to prove, perhaps interested in other ventures, and maybe he's not keen on developing an entirely new car.

Surely Merc would try for Lando first, or try to nick Perez just to push in Christian's stool.

Also do we know Lewis wasn't mulling retiring if he won his 8th this year anyway? I know he signed through 2023 but I doubt the team would hold him to that if he didn't want to continue.

That is not how great champions behave!

A true F1 champion sticks around for years and ends up in mediocre teams that hardly bring results, yet they hold on, hoping that their moments of glory will eventualy return.

Hamilton could easily return to McLaren, score some more podiums, and finish his career at Williams because that´s where his heroes used to race for!

Put Sainz in the Merc and let Ham finish his career at Ferrari

I honestly think retirement wasnt a serious option at all for Lewis in regards of how things went. It might have been an option if he did win #8.

Wolff is just pushing it to create sympathy. To push his agenda.

in middle 1990 Mansell did the same thing, called the press and said he was quitting F1 for good, so months later he was signing to Williams and become a championship contender again

If you're calling it quits, do it like Rosberg, who was just fresh out of his championship and shook F1, don't make them wait

Doesn't the great mass of people see through this sour-grapes-victim mentality? I mean it's not like anyone gives a shit for real? Does LH think fans will come begging for him to remain, like a self-proclaimed fetisch? It's just a way of communicating between parties (Merc and F1) like politicians uses newspaper as a way of kindergardening (purposely misspelled).

I can see Merc or rather their F1 team as a business acting this way but not on an personal level...

Jean Alesi was arrested for putting explosives at his brother-in-law's office, in which he said it was supposed to be a prank.

I mean, all he's done is unfollow F1 on instagram, which for all we know could mean "I want to relax and not have 1001 F1 posts flooding my feed, I'll follow them again in March when we go testing..."

Even the official F1 account has been pretty spicy posting Red Bull's winding up of Mercedes' final laps so you can forgive him for not wanting to see those posts while it still feels raw

Whatever you think about Abu Dhabi, from Lewis' point of view he had that race and title won. And that takes a while to get over
Senna went and smashed up his flat in Monaco after he threw away a win
Hakkinen went and cried in a bush when he threw away a certain win
Schumacher tried to beat up David Coulthard when DC took a win from him in dangerous circumstances
Piquet DID beat up Salazar when he was trying to make the first ever refueling pitstop work and was taken out of the race
Racing drivers take things HARD when they are robbed of wins, I've seen it first hand myself at the race track too

Just let the guy get over it in private, he hasn't actually made ONE public statement or done ANYTHING to deserve this ire he is getting, (unlike his boss) so allow him to vent in peace.

actually he went up to sleep and get away from any media ambush that could have happened following a crash from a 50 second lead in the late stage of the race

but I know what you mean, he must be meditating right now as he should

If I understood correctly, they were fireworks. Sounds rather silly to arrest a man over a fireworks prank. Alesi is so rich he could burn his brother-in-law's office, and rebuild afterwards it, just for the lolz.
