Rumour floating around that, if Andretti buy Sauber, then Colton Herta will be alongside Bottas.

Would be great to see as he's a huge talent of the future

A risk for him though to leave a race winning and potential championship charge in Indycar to tootle around as the 2nd worst team in F1 maybe getting a point if everything goes absolutely perfectly....

He does have the 40 SL points.

2018: 12 points (2nd in Indy Lights)
2019: 4 points (7th in Indycar) - dropped score under current SL rules
2020: 20 points (3rd in Indycar)
2021: 8 points (5th in Indycar)

The current SL rules now state that drivers take the three best seasons from their past 4, so long as 2020 is one of the past 3 seasons. Which gives Herta 12 + 20 + 8 = 40.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

well, he could display a good talent with a underwhelming team and head to a top team, but that is quite difficult given most teams have drivers on the line from their academies

unless Red Bull drops Perez to hire him in the future

Colton Herta mirrors Michael Andretti more than his own father, he's always on the "one mistake too many" side of things to be a reliable championship contender in IndyCar and we would get a lot more buzz in F1 tbh.

Colton is 21. Hamilton for example didn't gain reliability until past 26yo (2011 was his last disastrous season crash-wise). I think that Herta has no business wasting his talent and destroying his self-confidence at the back of an F1 grid.

The same was said about Alexander Rossi, better for him to be a championship contender in IndyCar then struggle in F1. And Rossi had two contending seasons in IndyCar before tailing off in the last two. So much for that. I believe Andretti might be convinced he's not breaking the Penske/Ganassi reign no matter what and it might be worth rolling the dice in F1. I don't think Herta loses anything if he spends 3-4 years toiling in F1 as the worst case scenario and who knows, he might actually defy some odds?

This is awesome.

Raised money for a mental health charity, set a new Guinness world record, AND soiled Lance's race suit!

So, F1 will need a new medical driver for the final 3 races because Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE demand all travelers to be vaccinated upon arrival and Alan van der Merwe simply hasn't been vaccinated so far.

Sounds like he has no interest in getting it.

Kinda strange F1 hasn't required him and anyone else in the paddock to get vaccinated by this point - I doubt playing it race by race is going to work from an event planning standpoint, and everyone being vaccinated can only help the effectiveness of the bubble.

I wonder why he didn't yet get into quarantine trouble so far.

Is Europe a vaccination free travel zone? In that you only have to show negative tests, not an actual vaccine certificate?

Yes, most of Europe (AFAIK) allows for proof of a negative test on entry for the unvaccinated.

He's being very vague in replying to people, but I think he either has a(n undisclosed) medical condition which contraindicates the vaccine*, or he is just another anti-vaxxer who doesn't want to be called out. Honestly, it's hard to tell based on some of his statements:

- This reads like "I can't have it but I don't want to discuss why", which is absolutely fair

- This reads like "I have done the research so scientists don't have to", which is absolutely stupid

* There are some contraindications for some of the vaccines, but in most cases another vaccine can be used anyway. Also, in many cases the risks of the vaccine are *still* outweighed by the risks of contracting COVID.

I feel for anyone that cant get it due to medical reason.

Anyone with a degree from Facebook University and a degree from Telegram High can go fuck themselves. If he falls into the latter group the FOM should fire him on the spot.

talking about booster shots, Red Bull is claiming that Mercedes has got a sudden 20km/h advantage, could it be true?

I suppose this could be explained by Mercedes turning down their engines to the extent that we all forgot how good a new one was :?
