Yowchies, I wonder if gloves can be made more fire retardant? https://www.pitpass.com/68984/Grosjean- ... e-bandages

The interesting info to come out of that accident was that the gloves aren't rated the same as the suits (would have thought they would have been the same), and it was only this year that the suits fire rating was increased.

Considering the drivers originally complained about the additional bulk of the suit with the fire resistance improvements, I'm sure there are challenges in bringing the gloves in line while maintaining the dexterity drivers need to operate the wheel controls.

Oh the irony. Brazilian race put in jeopardy because of a guy called Rubinho. Even a scripted show wouldn't have this sense of humor. But our judges are crazy and I really believe this will not deter the race to happen.

See the comment below only if you have some interest in our crazy complex politics.

Of course, I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that Bolsonaro wants the race in Rio and suddenly the contract that Sao Paulo signed three months ago is being investigated for dodgy stuff

Believe it or not, it is. The plea of the alderman is totally sensible. He asked to void the contract between F1 and the city of São Paulo because he deems a confidential contract that costs the city around 20 million dollars as something totally wrong.

He is part of a group that used to support Bolsonaro in the past but now bashes him because of his nonsense. I'm very confident to plea has nothing to do with the failed attempt to take the race to Rio.

A bit of light relief:

He's right really, because no-one would know who he was. If he wasn't Stroll Jnr his crash, flip, crash flip record in the ladder series wouldn't have got him spirited to F1 in the first place.

Lance did have a very successful F3 season in 2016, although he probably benefitted from having the best resources (and a full season in 2015 to learn from). If he didn't have the huge backing, I imagine he would have gone into F2 in 2017. Probably having a mediocre season, and then doing a half decent job in a second season (losing out to Russell but maybe getting into the Norris/Albon/De Vries battle for 2nd. It may or may not have given him an F1 ride for 2019.

I don't think Stroll is awful. He definitely showed an improvement at the start of this season and looked like he may be able to match Perez, but his performances dipped, whilst Perez continued to get stronger. If I'm being generous, we could say that Covid may have affected him more than we realise.

If he can improve again in 2021, and take the fight to Vettel, then you could argue that he does deserve his spot on the grid. Should it be in one of the best cars, though? Doubtful. If he doesn't improve, then he reminds me more of a Palmer, or Ericsson. Flashes of pace in junior Formula, but never really good enough to hold down an F1 ride. If Vettel had replaced Stroll instead of Perez, do you think Red Bull would have picked up Lance?

Yeah, his son made big headlights when he wasnt in F1, when he crashed/flipped in Monza in F3 i think. I know it was coming to turn 3 for sure. The news were everywhere. And then we remembered who the driver was

just saw is just a testing livery. I'm guessing they'll go to a blue car like Prost or Ligier once was

Yeah! They just removed the yellow and replaced it with red, blue, and white but it's not the definitive one. It does look like something we would see in a team such as Andrea Moda or Fondmetal.

Ferrari reserve driver Antonio Fuoco takes Charles Leclerc's place to feel miserable about Ferrari's performance until Leclerc is recovered.

Not exactly a surprise considering the amount of socializing he was doing on a weekly basis, I figured it was only a matter of time.

Sauber is expected to extend their deal with Ferrari until 2025.

If Red Bull does get those Honda engines it will leave Renault/Alpine without customer teams again.

and

Just should have called it the C39 2: Electric Boogaloo

That's the most Alfa Romeo'esque fix on anything.

Apparently Red Bull and Honda have come to an agreement and now they're waiting on the engine freeze.

Not the most reliable source: https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/76875/br ... -2022.html
But their source is AMuS which is quite reputable.

I cant see anyone agree on a freeze but I can see RB being so petty about it they decide to spent a fortune on it after all in an attempt to make the others regret not voting for that freeze.

The source is indeed AMuS; https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... ste-woche/

Another affirmation at the end of the article that if there is no freeze then F1 is down to 16 cars for next year.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I see Ferrari veto right there. As long as they get up, it doesn't matter if the sport suffers.
