I'm disappointed they're not using the digital+ footage for the races from 1996 to 2002. Would be nice to have the option to switch back and forth between both feeds of those races while watching.

Well, it was a commercial failure so I assume Liberty wants to keep it under wraps even 20 years later?

That was their own fault. I had it in 1998 and 1999, only the supersignal was available on analog in my area on canal+. But I loved it, all sessions live. Then for 2000 they stopped offering it on analog cable. No way to get it anymore in my area, I was so disappointed. Then bought a satellite receiver for 2002 to watch it illegally, they screwed themselves back Then just like now with F1TV by not making it easily available (still no official smart TV apps for example)

I'd love to get into the archives of F1. First thing I'd try and find is footage of Senna's crash from that camera at Tamburello and then CCTV of Lamy at Silverstone if the track had to hand over footage.

At least it now has Chromecast compatibility, starting this year. I'm glad I have one, works great even if you already have a low-mid tier Smart TV, with those slow UI. Well, I have 2 TVs, one is a 2015 Smart TV model, the other a standard HD only from like 10 years ago.

Last year back, I had to plug the laptop to the TV via HDMI, to be able to watch F1TV. And more than once, I forgot to plug in the charger, so I found myself mid-race running around the house looking for the damn charger, after the damn warning appeared in the middle of the screen.

Haha, imagine getting on the track having just set your bag at the hotel the night before, barely any breakfast in the morning, then strap in for a cut-throat session on a green, damp, cold track. 49 entrants, 26 spots, either you're in or you go home.

Hell yeah I'd like to watch more.

Roberto Moreno used to tell some good stories from back then

when they placed worn tires on purpose because they couldn't run other sessions than PQLF

Listen to the Andrea Moda episode from Bring Back V10's podcast. They even had Perry McCarthy as guest.

Pure gold.

Shit I was half joking when I mentioned Netflix before but maybe I was onto something.

RIP F1. Sprint races are nothing compared to what Netflix would do. Probably turns F1 into WWF. Can't wait to see Lewis break champagne bottle on Max's head on podium and Ross Brawn headbutt Michael Masi during the race.

It's a bit OTT from Netflix to bid for the entire lock and key of the series itself rather than just getting involved in the next broadcasting bidding rights.
But maybe this is their statement of intent of how much money they have to play with for that

Would love to see it streaming on my Netflix account rather than the extra subscribtions on top of subscriptions you have to sign up for to see it on Sky Sports F1 here in the UK
No doubt they'll create a new paywall inside netflix just for F1 streaming though, because we can't have nice things

is because it won't be nice. they'll turn the series into a non-fiction just for the DRAMA

Jesus Fucking Christ can we grow up a little on this forum for once? :slaphead:

As far as I know netflix have never live streamed anything and haven't demanded a sport change just for them (whoever makes Drive to Survive for them is a different issue entirely as a documentary like that is always going to focus on the highlights only and ignore the boring stuff)

As for the rest of it, boo hoo for them reflecting the world as it actually is instead of gatekeeping it to present it as one kind of way as has happened for the past 80+ years of visual media.
