Sod's law will be that Lewis will somehow resurrect himself for next week and the next time George is in a Mercedes, the 2022 rules have changed the game and they're nowhere

I get the feeling Lewis is a lot sicker than anyone is letting on and he won't be there next week

Perhaps after today Mercedes or even he himself will be convinced George needs another go at it

i'm not sure lewis will even be allowed to travel due to quarantine rules

Doesn’t he need to test negative today or tomorrow to be allowed to travel?

I'm not sure how the 10-day isolation will square up with being able to produce a negative test, but tbh if he was 'not doing great' and hasn't even posted on social media since last week, I don't think he will be well enough soon enough. Let's just hope he will be well enough first.

-Lewis isn't fit enough to drive in Abu Dhabi
-Williams don't let Russell drive another race in Mercedes
-Vandoorne replaces Lewis
-Vandoorne loses to Bottas in quali but wins the race

Mark my words.

All that might happen bar the last one, when he gets sidewiped by Russell when he comes to lap him

"Whoops, steering wheel failed"

+1
only thing that matters. He can go on winning races next year.

Kinda wish we could've had Bahrain 1 & 2 both on the outer loop layout. One race on that track doesn't feel like enough.

This also kinda reminds old fart fans like me of Magny Cours 2002

Remember Kimi's brilliant performance against the dominant Ferrari of that year, leading Micheal all race only to lose it on some oil dropped by a Jaguar at the hairpin

Was gutted for Kimi then as I am for George now, but Kimi went on to win many other races and hopefully George will too.

Russell will win, surely he's now shown he's worth a shot with Merc. Bottas has to be on borrowed time now.

Russell has a long career ahead of him and he will win races (fingers crossed). All things considered, it's ok that this one went to Perez who is a likeable driver that we may not see in F1 again.

Lolfact of the day

Russell got his race screwed by... Jack Aitken driving Russell's car

For those who have F1TV, you should check the Mercedes' radio drama on Bottas & Rusell's onboard channels

Looks like George will get DQ'd on top of everything else

Imagine how it would've been without the puncture, losing a win in the Stewards office... :8:

Looks like Perez did give room, it was all on Leclercs lockup.

Apparently Drive to Survive was with George all weekend. Another episode full of drama.

Also waiting for Eddie Jordan to show up on the coverage next week saying how he put all the hard work into that team and deserves credit for the win

Gotta say that is extremely over the top if he gets DQ, since they changed the tyres back one lap later. That is penalty enough to me.

Yes, this. A fine for the team is warranted, but both drivers were punished on the track.

Not like he went out in racing conditions.

What is the official rule? Brundle made a comment about them having to change the tyres back within 3 laps, but it's not something I'd ever heard before.

What a race of mixed emotions. Absolutely gutted for Russell, but he will surely have a decent career and pick up wins in future.
Delighted for Perez. I haven't really had a favourite driver for many years, but he's always been one that I like to see do well. He has to be racing somewhere next season.

Tough luck for Sainz and Kvyat as well. The VSC timing cost them a great result.
