ah yes, is one of the things that I don't like in the onboards, the image is always delayed

Rather good reanimation of the crash.

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.grosjean-speaks-on-how-he-escaped-fiery-crash-his-secret-injury-whether-hell.7bW43BaDcEuV1NOhS0BnvZ.html

I thought this at the time, and this interview confirms it (also pointed out by coldtyre), but Grosjean thought he was a gonner and accepted that he was going to die. If you look at the side on video of him trying to get out, you clearly see him pause and slump a little. The fire extinguisher goes off and then he springs back to life.

I might be reading too much into it, but it matches up with his story and it pretty much is as he described. Crazy stuff.

Also it appears that the driver facing camera survived and we might one day get to see as Grosjean said he is not against releasing it.

Interesting that he's talking about the crash a lot. Apparently he's been advised to do this by his therapist to help him process everything that happened

Makes sense. Try to normalize the incident so that it becomes just another thing, rather than locking it away as the horrific incident it was.

Oh yikes, I hate to imagine what they looked like after the crash! Just shows you it was fortunate that he got out in the time that he did

I thought he burned his hands when holding on to the hot armco. Any idea why the upper side is burnt?

Maybe when he pulled himself out of the car, he placed the hands as fists, probably knowingly trying not to burn his fingers.

Well as he was trying to get out the palms would have been against whatever he held onto whereas the backs of the gloves were open to the flames.

Perhaps he was holding on to the halo while trying to get out of the tub

The palm part of racing glove is thicker than upper part too, so it's probably also a factor.
