Just noticed that Latifi finished one place off of the points. What a story that would have been :(

It was a great result today but they really need to change the red flag rules. Stoppages need to be done the American way.

I think closing the pit lane until everybody has caught the SC is the way forward. What a race. Felt a bit sorry for Kvyat, who was actually on pace with Gasly. Also Perez, who was clearly faster than Stroll, but screwed by circumstances again.

Incredible podium, though.

That one crazy race and i decided not to watch dammit.
Im affraid this will be Sainz last chance for a win or podium for the forseeable future.
What do you guys think?

So happy that Gasley won & what a irony that he performs so much better with alpha than he was with the Redbull.
Says to me what kind of unhealty environment it was for him over there mentally

So it was a great race thanks to the SC, but was this one of the most unnecessary ones?

Magnussen was in a safe place, even if they left the car there I cannot see how another car would crash there. Is this Liberty's influence to try and liven up the show?

Those criticising Bottas, I'm not convinced Hamilton would have done better - Hamilton was fast in clean air and easily overtook much slower cars but we didn't see him trying to pass any of the faster cars that Bottas was sat behind.

Did the world feed show Hamilton passing Ocon? It wasn't shown on the C4 highlights

It's been a long time they leave no cars on track, even if they are in a safe place, hasn't it?

And now the crews are smaller because of COVID, so they are more biased towards safety cars this season.

Only in the little letterbox picture in picture in the positions graphic(which I'm actually quite liking as an addition this year) while Sainz was as close as he ever got to Gasly on the final lap

I need to watch it again with C4 commentary, that race+Ben Edwards is gonna be a BLAST

Gasly drove a superb race at the end there, didn't flinch...but damn I am gutted for Sainz. That win should have been his.

Self inflicted cooling issues or not (so Bottas would have has the same issues if he was behind Lewis??) it was a really really insipid race from him.

Approaching Ferrari Kimi Mark 2 territory.

This was the first race from my new place btw and with my internet+tv I got 12 months of Ziggo sports for free. They broadcast F1 for the Netherlands.

Boy did I NOT miss Olav Mol. He sucks so bad. LeClerc crashes and first thing he says "No points for Ferrari today".
Who the fuck cares at that point? We didnt even see if LeClerc was ok. :slaphead:

Most needless SC for a long time

I remember in 2014 at Hockenheim when Sutil stalled in the start/finish line and they didn't deployed the SC when it was very necessary

Of course, an accident later in the 2014 season completely changed things like this. They needed to push Magnussen's car up to the pitlane because it wouldn't fit through the gap that he parked next to, so this would have been a case of marshals pushing a car with their backs to cars exiting the final corner and possibly diving into the very same pitlane entrance. I don't see how they could have handled it any other way.

Why did they need to move Magnussens car? It was in one of the safest places it could be on the track. Totally agree if marshals were going to go on track there should be a safety car then, but I don't understand why the car was moved unless that's a new rule for F1 that cars are never left trackside?

That was even worse. Car sitting in the middle of the track and no SC. That was a conspiracy.
