So, any chance of they changing the tyres, or are they keeping the softer sets as previously planned?

Keeping them as far as I know. Until proven otherwise, the signs point to debris causing the punctures.

Even with the tyres staying the same, I doubt we'll see a repeat as the teams will know what to do now. Any chance of rain on Sunday?

Well pointed out. Will look forward to see how they solve this problem. Already making this race quite unique and special.

Hotter weather just to add to the mix. Now this may be the only race in ages that I may prefer that it doesn't rain.

Are we still going to spain?

I thought they were talking about staying at Silverstone an extra week because things looked so bad there?

Not heard any thing but surely they can't be about to do another Melbourne? That would be an utter joke.

Surely has nothing to do with blown tires then. :whistling:

seeing the engagement the last lap thrills Liberty would take a kne jerk approach and randomly place explosive charges in random tires set to explode in the final lap, just for the DRAMA!!! as cars will keep distance avoid big wrecks

If there is 6 days of British GP action and not a single drop of rain then 2020 truly is write off.

Think it's not too late to jury-rig Silverstone's sprinkler system to wet down the track?

Current forecast is the same as last week. Hot Friday (31C), warm Saturday (26C), cooler Sunday (23C).

There hasn't been a lot of rain here (I'm in one of the driest parts of the UK, about 100 miles from Silverstone). We had rain Saturday night before the race, and Monday morning after the race :slaphead: Hopefully the warmer weather will bring a storm in (long range forecasts suggesting rain on Tuesday - Thursday after the race).

Am I missing something regarding Spain? Their daily death figures are always lower than the UK, but it's dangerous there and safe here? Or is there an outbreak near the circuit?

Yesterday, Spain recorded their highest number of new cases (5,760) since April 24th. There is quite clearly a second wave in progress.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Apparently Paul Di Resta is Mclaren's reserve driver for the time being.

Probably that their second wave is coming earlier than the UK's, so Silverstone got lucky having its races when it did

There was a news report a couple of weeks ago saying if things got worse in spain, they'd stay at Silverstone and have a third race, but that went quiet I guess, probably when things DID get worse in spain and they had no intention of cancelling the race there...

I saw this at motorsport.com and started looking for the related article about Lando or Carlos having covid. If nothing's happening with the main drivers who gives a shit who the reserves are? They clearly didn't when they had Guttierez listed as reserve for multiple teams all year despite the fact he doesn't meet requirements to drive in F1.

Yeah, that's what I don't get.

Edit:
Actually, could it be that it's because Di Resta raced DTM up to last year and is racing in WEC whereas Guirerrez has barely done anything since 2017?

Quote:
A driver who has held a valid super licence for any of the previous three seasons is eligible for a new licence, if the driver has previously held a super licence but has not held a valid licence within the previous three years issue is subject to completion of 300 km at race speeds in representative F1 car over no more than two days, either as part of a test certified by a national racing authority or as part of an official F1 session. This must be completed no more than 180 days before their application.

There has to be something there, in the quote from the rulebook (rulebook meaning Wikipedia article).

Di Resta raced once in 2017, meaning he should be within the 3 years to be eligible for a superlicence. He didn't raced since 2013, so probably it was testing mileage that kept him eligible prior to that.

Gutierrez last raced in 2016, four years ago, so he wouldn't be eligible straight away.

My question is, do Superlicences expire each year? I mean, if neither Gutierrez nor di Resta renewed their superlicences after their last races and if they expire at the end of the year/beggining of the next, makes sense to me that Di Resta is eligible and Gutierrez isn't.
