Do they really need to reconsider the softer compounds for next weekend? Teams will have three practice sessions to gather data. Just make more stops if you have to, right? Or have I oversimplified things?

That was my thinking as well. They were right on the cusp of what the hard tyres could do when they all stopped - was remarked by Brundle when Albon came in

Maybe softer tyre would be safer as more pitstops would happen. For me it looked like sidewall broke first for Bottas, Sainz and Hamilton.

Bottas also complained about vibration over ten laps earlier.

Easy fix is to increase the minimum tire pressure.

I remember driver picking up marbles after race the match minimum weight.
What if they weight HAM's car and find out it's under weight because of the puncture??
Wil they disqualified him?

Hopefully it means the teams will be more conservative with their strategy and maybe consider a 2 stop over just a 1 stop

Which might give us more mid-race interest than today's race anyway.

Rules are simple, underweight car gets DQ. How ever I think Mercedes doesn't have to risk with the weight and count on marbles added weight.

Thinking about it, would that be one of the slowest final laps in history where the SC wasn't out?

if it wasn't for SC perhaps they could had waited more to stop and the tires lasted

plus with so many SC laps cars didn't burned all the fuel so weight is not an issue

FTFY :D

I'm sure there were a lot of complaining. Or maybe he kept to himself cause Bottas was close for the whole race.

Don't know if it crossed anyone's mind, but didn't Hulk's DNS looked a bit suspicious. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he didn't start the race because he wasn't fit enough for it.

Maybe

Anyway, I seriously hope they don't back out on softer tyres for next week. All those punctures only happened because they pushed so far. Stopping early on that Safety Car.... Still was only a 1 pit-stop race for most, so going for softer tyres should have been the best option for the weekend if we only had 1 race here to begin with imo.

the track is big and wide, only an idiot would stay out on harder tires accounting on a steady pace while the others do the undercut

Christian Horner said to RaceFans that there was over 50 cuts on front tyre of Verstappen's car.

For debris damage that sounds quite a lot. So maybe kerbs or edge of tarmac caused this? There's multiple places per lap where they cut the track in high speed and especially with the left front. Luffield, Copse, going to Hangar straight, Stowe...

The tyre snipers were really accurate in that one. Makes you wonder what was really causing them. Sharp edges seem likely.

Don't know where sky get their weather predictions but it's not going to be that hot next weekend.

So it will be an easy 2 stop.

I realised this morning that the result of this race - long-time leader having a mechanical failure on the last lap and not quite being caught by the other guy - is the result of the 1997 Hungarian GP that we didn't get.

thank god it wasn't Ricciardo or Norris catching the leader otherwise it'd be a hell of a heartbreak

So cause could be debris from Kimi rather then them being on the tyres too long.
